Maybe it’s impossible to determine, keeping in mind that these layoffs are on a big scale and that they are performed worldwide, but are there any specifics on what kind of employees were affected the most? A certain position, age, performance, pay grade… anything?

In our case, there was no method at all. They just shut the whole thing down. Just about everything related to Cloud Platform Mobile Services in North America was shuttered - several teams across several sites/cities. Didn't matter how old/young, good/bad - nothing.
All but a few from my team were eliminated. Only a skeleton crew is being retained to support existing customers, because they are obligated to do so under law.
The kicker: I received a nice merit increase in my salary a few days after the news came down. Thanks a lot guys!
Brilliant, veteran talent being shown the door indeed - SAP's loss...
It is also team independent. So let’s say you are the highest paid t3/t4/t5 on a team but have a compa-ratio below market value and actually considered a bargain in the market. It does not matter. The message from leadership to managers was to look at cost. They did not consider much more. Most mangers don’t understand comp-ratios, position in range, or market values. The downside for SAP is it provides an excellent opportunity for its competitors to pick up top talent at a discount. Many people affected will have better offers in short time.
Looks like the most expensive, T3/T4/T5 which in turn mean the thought leaders and rock stars are being laid off, if the technology groups they are on are not yielding enough revenue. This along with regular employees who got bad performance reviews
