Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

Same game different players

Studio is basically running the school as DCEH had. All the control at the corporate level, zero control at the campus. All decisions are being made, including all new hires by corporate. The campuses have no say on anything that is happening. I’m pretty sure zero control at the campuses goes against accreditation that requires the campuses to have autonomy.....

@1fsw I am at an EPF School: SACS also has a student to full-time instructor ratio, our campus is not in compliance (so why hasn't the 'local' control of academics bring us back into compliance?), our campus no longer has a P-Card, so we can't purchase ANYTHING, not a pencil. When you say that "EPF/Studio is not in control of academics", but they are controlling academics by controlling the purse strings. As far a "contracted services", what has EPF/Studio provided for your campus? We have received "0" services, none (our campus no longer has toilet paper). The "transfer" of these schools really hasn't begun, so we shall see, but it is hard to believe that the money-grab and the slash and burn won't continue. It won't be surprising if the Department of Education prohibits the EPF/Studio schools from participating in Federal Financial Aid next quarter. Our students are missing their financial aid as well. DCEH is STILL providing this service to EPF/Studio, so why should there not be any other decision? While it might feel that these schools are under "local" control, I highly doubt this will continue.

1fsw- it was never local control under EDMC. All the mass layoffs and other shenanigans came from Corporate. DCEH or Studio/EPF or whatever phony organizations they concoct next will do the same

Sacs and other accreditors allow for most college service areas to be contracted. Aii is doing just that. Campus presidents can veto hires if they want. All academic positions and decisions rest solely with the campuses and council of deans. I know that it’s easy to be skeptical though.

That is how it should be.

It’s 100% true. Corporate is running all the departments on our campus except maybe the faculty. The Directors have no say in the process or who is hired. All decisions are being made by corporate, they are managing admissions and financial aid and student affairs. I’m sure they are telling accreditation there is autonomy, but it’s a lie and everyone is to worried about losing their job to say anything.
