I have firsthand knowledge that Kroger is dramatically (and quietly) cutting Roundy's corporate staff in Milwaukee. They're letting folks go 6-10 at a time every other week to stay under the radar of the state and the press. A clause in the severance package forbids employees to talk to the media about the layoffs. Someone needs to raise this to the press!

When I was given my pink slip last Tuesday I asked if I could go from director to an assistant or something else or even go someplace else in the country, I was told no. What? Even if they were hiring for a position that I was over qualified for I could not even apply God after 25 years with this company to be treated like this.
Before Roundy's and Mariano's operated basically as separate companies, but under Kroger they merged the two divisions into one under Roundy's, so these layoffs are likely a part of them looking at the company and cleaning out and redundant positions.
Over 30 employees in the last two months.. They won't allow them to transfer to stores or other divisions.
