Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

This is what happens when you have engineers fresh out of school and new to the world running an o&g company. Those guys are complete id--ts

“ just throw more money at it that’s sure to fix it”

The ABBU was a victim of this. There was an engineer making decisions that just wasn’t practical, cost way too much, then had to be redone at a later date, thus spending more money. There was tons of waste associated with this. Unproven technology and too stupid or arrogant to ask for direction. There were a couple of decent engineers. Not all of them complete id--ts.

Probably the most accurate statement on this whole board. Devon lost its way when it brought I. Engineers with no life experience, let alone oil and gas experience. Then they brought on many consultants and six sigma manufacturing gurus who have ruined more than one oil and gas company to date. Devon should have stayed true to what brought it to top, not the coolest fad or IT project. Sad indeed. I think Wide says it best, but Devon allowed it to continue.

Following Chesapeake into the abyss. Sad! I always thought Devon was better than them.

agree. as a operator that has been in the business for decades and has many non ops with Devon, i

now say they are the worst operator in the business. Devon reminds me of Chesapeake in the hey day. The engineers in the field have literally cost me HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dollars due to lack of guidance and inexperience.

i believe some day the stock of this company will be worthless.
