I am online adjunct at AiO, and have a flood of students e-mailing me about the closure of their schools, and what they should do about our online class. I have no information to tell them, and my inbox is completely empty from anyone in administration, including my manager.

Jen Cooper is an id--t and has as much business in a leadership position as a bug. Cooper, Falcone, and Barkey are basically internal figureheads who have been promoted from within with few credentials or competitive accomplishments. Collectively, they parrot what they are told by the investor-led executive team of DCEH.
The collection of schools that make up the Dream Center (formerly EDMC) all represent innovative, student-centered schools mired by unfettered greed and a need for exponential growth. The current unraveling of the organization is regrettable. But let’s face it; when the once formidable leadership team of AI is now Jen Cooper (a former car salesperson), Matthew Falcone (a local historian), and Doug Barkey (a photographer who recently earned an Ed.D from within the system and has no practical experience)…the place is a shell of itself.
ipu - this sounds like a reply from Cooper - she's a class(less) act.
To the original poster - why in GOD'S name would you think JC is the person to go to? She's part of the problem, NOT the solution. I just hope that if this place is somehow salvaged, they realize that Cooper and Barkey are overpaid id--tS. Cooper needs to go back to selling used cars and Barkey needs to take that sorry-excuse for an EdD he got and crawl under a rock - honestly, the biggest f---ing mo--n I've ever had to deal with. He's as stupid as Trump.
1rda well that's an interesting observation considering they are the campuses that are NOT closing. Sorry pal.
I have no clue why you'd think that JC would ever be informative or helpful.
It is obvious by these post that online instructors are the worst and the reason for Aip / Aipod downfall. You are all a disgrace to the profession.
Dude. An email went out. Try learning how to read. The school is not, I repeat not closing.
People just want to make drama. Teach your classs through the end as usual.
Yes, you will get paid.
Don’t sign anything students.
Go to IAmAi on Facebook to get a clue
Reach out to your supervisor. I received a message about our status already. Online is NOT closing.
Just be honest with your students. Tell them the school may very well close Friday in which case they will be out of luck. But to continue working as usual in the hope that it will stay open. Do the right thing, don’t worry about what admin may tell you. Everyone at AI is going to lose their jobs soon anyway, so what’s the difference? At least go out with your head held high and doing the right thing.
jkx Whiners and people without basic problem solving skills have no place in higher ed. S--- it up buttercup. Or get out of academia.
It’s a tough world out there and faculty need to be able to make tough decisions and teach others how to do the same IN THEIR OWN BEST INTEREST. Not a hard concept.
BTW, Like her or not, JC is doing what she can at the receiver’s mercy.
fwk I know right? These people just need to do their job and quit worrying about something which they have no control. Students who have concerns need to act in their best interest. Why is this so difficult for people to understand?
Coddling and enabling whiners is ridiculous.
ipu
It sounds like you took PR lessons from Brent Richardson. Loser.
ipu karma just around the corner for these disgusting people
My students are clueless about the closure. I was told not to say anything or I would get into trouble.
Is the school still open? Yes it is. Just do your job and tell the students AiPOD is operating as usual.
If student express concern about continuing, tell them to do what is best for them.
If you can’t do something that simple you can easily be replaced. This isn’t a difficult concept to grasp, do your job u til you no longer have one.
that's normal - and they get paid oodles of salary for this
“More updates to come tomorrow. Hang with me!”
I’ve been “hanging” here all day and nothing. Absolutely nothing. No updates. But that’s par for the course around here.
I'm in the same position with a flood of questions and no information to give to students.
