Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Age of those laid off?

Is it just me, or did this layoff round slant significantly towards older employees? It could be just my location, but most of the people who received their notifications here are in their late forties, early fifties...

What's the situation like elsewhere? Am I making too much out of it?

It's always people who need jobs to provide for their families that get the sack.

Noticed the ones affected in my region are long timers, many are very senior or probably earning more than the average pay grade for their job. The other ones affected are really junior staff you wonder why they bother laying them off.

I can confirm mid-level (T4 and above) are targeted in Cali and they tend to be age 40 and above. However a few early talents in their 20s are also let go as part of the mass layoff and they are thrilled because they already have jobs lined up externally.

Under 50 no problem. Going to get harder to keep a job in your forties.
