Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Successfactors Layoffs Today

Several of the team members were let go today in Successfactors, but a manager who has no clue / don't know anything and a couple of other folks who are in the same boat like their boss are let continue. Their turn probably tomorrow or a few days later. I dont think there is any criteria they applied in choosing the names to layoff other than mass histeria where the Sr boss got the count from above.

Feeling sad, terrible and disappointed but nobody to blame as we chose to work for a moran. This guy had brought in 3 other id--ts as managers who basically are first time IT'ers and over hired to grow their own kingdom. We should have been cautious and looked for jobs outside since the starting of this year when the guru of hp mafia was let go due to malpractice and we knew these managers will crumble any time as they lost the tree safeguarding them. All 4 basically ruined our teams reputation and looks like the VP had a history with the current super boss in his previous job and that played into laying off the entire team.

Most of us got 2 months notice with 2 weeks of severance. I dont think it is over yet. Looks like the entire SanRamon office was laid off. Sell your SAP stock. They over paid for Qualtrics and as a result are these layoffs.

In order to change a law, a class action is the necessary evil. It's not just for personal gain but the greater good for the society.

It is really sad to see this.

In Germany employees are protected by law against layoffs in a much better way. This is the result of labor unions fighting for decades for employee rights, and is in place for about 70 years now. What do unions fight for in the US?

Today I learn that they layoff their best manager. He motivated and inspired all of us in the different offices because he knew the work but trusted us and helps us grow. He cared about us and we care about him. It will not be good with him gone. Big mistake for SF.

Wow did Bill really say that basically they want to get rid of old people? Lawyers will be trolling big time for age discrimination lawsuits with that comment

Run run run... They just bought a Kia for 100 grand while it is worth a 10th and only realized it when mama got angry @ home.

Looks like another round coming this week.

There are two logics in here.

One, because of the employment protection in Germany and in most of Europe, announced layoffs tend to happen in the US, with SSF leading the way because of the concentration. SuccessFactors has had trouble to make its numbers, so axe swing. It is true that at parity of experience, a German employee is less expensive; however Germany has a large base of long-term, high ranked employees, and severance is calculated on these bases.

Two, there is a spelled-out desire to get a "younger" SAP. Even McDermott has mentioned in some of his interviews, pre-announcing the layoffs and further SAP growth, and stating an intention to reduce the average company age by a year every year. So, guess where are the layoffs?

But they have not removed useless persons like SS from SAP Ariba engineering who is there in the company for 14+ years, doing nothing but playing games, replying to emails and cc the whole world, coming to office during lunch time, leave by 4. Absolutely no technical acumen but some how licking up to his boss, since they are in US they really don’t have info other than emails. He also has a gang of incompetent friends in the company who keep scratching each others back. Absolute mo--ns who are so demotivating to work with.

SAP Ariba has also seen layoffs. In india it is 4 product managers and 3 from engineering. In US it may be more but not sure of the exact count

One funny thing is they replaced the id--t from HP for one of his own HP people and that man is a bad person and a bad leader who stabs everyone in the back.

Could someone please elaborate on "co-location" and "location-based development plan"? Not sure what they mean. Thanks!

It is a blood bath at SuccessFactors South San Francisco. All remote employees hit but the co location excuse is bs because most reqs are junior positions in China and India.

Qualtrix is a joke. Big push to figure out how to integrate it wit product offerings. Only thing I saw so far was a survey for opinions for the building’s only food establishment.

So much for the company leading the Human Revolution

May be US employees cost more but how about the fact that SAP gets 800 times more revenue from US companies/clients than German. So how do you complain abt US salaries?

US employees cost 1.6times as much as German employess, so please stop bashing Germans, thanks.

I'm SF. Laid off on Monday. Entire teams are gone. Still trying to understand the full impact, communication is nonexistent which means the rumor mill is running strong.

Is it South San Francisco location? Looks like Silicon Valley locations are hit badly this time. Easy target. As always, Germans are protected and the productive US workers are not due to German work council.

The recent acquisitions are not helping with the situation either.
