To those familiar with the situation, Is Contrail "dead man walking"? Or is there still hope for it?...

Why is Mist not under the CTO?

Because it didn't work out for Contrail.

Actually, it didn't work out for Juniper, with the spin-in debacle of Contrail.

Will the Mist be running on the ATOM platform? Then will it be a fully integrated portfolio.

Who knows? The technology integration will take years. Working at Juniper's pace, maneuvering amongst all the politics will frustrate Mist engineers. AI/ML takes tons of customization. Can't port it by copying files. So, keeping the people is key. Juniper doesn't operate that way. Layoffs are first in mind for most juniper leaders. So, not sure this merger will be fruitful. Just sayin'!

Mist brings AI/ML drivrn analytics that's already in production and can be easily ported to support other platforms.

Opportunity to deliver Enterprise Solutions with WiFi - 100% enterprises need WiFi, and partnering with Aruba, rukus and others wasn't working out.

Desperately needed to put the contrail aquisition behind, despite the minor wins and loving the name, its done little to boost Juniper

Last but not least, it gives the board and execs a chance to redeem themselves for selling trapeze and not buying Meraki, now wildy successful for Cisco.

Why Mist? Is Juniper trying to ditch the SP business and focus on the Enterprise side?

The jackâss that keeps bloating Juniper's Enterprise business potential is Marcellin's left nut, MB. His other nut is the 8-ball on SP side.

Both need to go. They are insensitive prïcks who just don't deliver anything useful. All show. No substance. Just a bunch of blabbering büllshit.

I was with Juniper for 15 years before getting the axe. @XUBOdku-5djr: all flops

Which Juniper acquisition has been a success? Or have they all been flops?

Shady!

Just like the time when Juniper "bought" Contrail.

At least Mist has working products and customers.

The internet said mist was valued in the mid $200m range. Why was the selling price over $400m?

Don't forget these when you are listing the acquisitions that didn't go anywhere Redline, Kagoor, Trapeze, Mykonos, Ankeena, Blackwave.

Why did Cisco pass on mist if they had first choice?

Disagree with OP. Our Enterprise segment is doing well. Mist will help.

Common misconception that juniper acquire and kill. It’s simply not true. Intellectual property is merged into the Junos software and functions and features. Pulse was the only f&$k up.

Don't feel sorry for Mist Systems, who started in 2014, with 88.4M in funding, according to Crunchbase. Little over 4 years later they have sold the company for 405M. Hopefully, this is not run by a greedy bunch and some profits are shared amongst all employees.

Regardless, it won't be long before RR and crew f*ck it all up, and we will be reading about layoffs here.
