It depends, if they foresee long term stagnation, then the axe will swing. Heck, Oracle just laid off 30% of what is left of the Sparc/Solaris group, even though that division is still quite profitable.

I assume they made the Samsung headcount reductions last year. HPI didn't make as much as the market wanted but they made a lot of money. Now if they do start cutting people, you can assume it's going to turn bad. But there is still room to take more market share in printing and PCs even if the overall -market declines more. We will see.

And don't count on 3D printing to save them. They can only print nylon but metal is still out there.
