Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Really, a 30 minute hub chat about company's financial future?

The hub chat scheduled for 30 minutes today is laughably inadequate means to educate employees about future earnings Outlook and context. It's been viewed 79.000 times and so far has like 5 questions or comments. People are afraid to ask anything and be identified. So much for the Trust Principles and all that.

I’m hoping the recent Kraft Heinz news will serve as a warning and management will reconsider their strategy.

Don’t expect transparency from this company. You’d find more of that in a semi-lit coal mine. The company has an agenda which it doesn’t want to share with its workers. Why else would it prevent access to this website from within the TR network? All of the layoffs over the past few months is a good example of capitalism’s negative features at its worst. Note the huge increase in the latest dividend to shareholders over the last quarter’s dividend, which seems to have received very little feedback. Expect more cost cutting this year. Incentives and recognition will be minimal. My sympathy goes out to those employees still remaining, who have more work to do for no extra pay or recognition. My apologies for sounding so gloomy, but this is the reality of working for this company.

Where to begin. Why isn't the company transparent in meaningful ways like having face to face town halls with the big wigs where people can ask difficult questions and get an unrehearsed response instead of meaningless corporate speak from an HR mouthpiece? Does the financial future of the company even matter if the segments are being sold off and everyone will be laid off or fired anyway? Can you as a company make an effort to actually care about your products and customers and be willing to invest in tech, instead of prioritizing shareholders who want more and more money. Instead of cutting the jobs of good, experienced personnel in the guise of being an agile, progressive place to work (sacrificing product and service quality by not replacing those people at all, or replacing them with temporary contractors) , can you be grateful for the hard work of so many dedicated employees who truly cared about their work and were proud of the company?
