There is a cultural problem at Q

Lack of reading comprehension is endemic. Lack of good writing is also very wide-spread. Hammering out 20 ill thought out and poorly worded emails appear more important than one, well reasoned and articulate message.

I receive emails daily that are muddled, semi-incoherent and frankly serve no purpose other than cluttering up mail boxes and confusing the recipients. These typically result in a flurry of follow up emails, "replied to all", seeking clarification, asking for further comments and so on. Such an inefficient, ineffective and wasteful use of engineering time.

There is no realistic way to fix these problem. Live with them, or leave.

The majority of directors are not c-ap. They are sharp and self serving. Grow their teams, fill their wallets many times over. Preferably by doing as little actual 'directing' as possible. Often achieved by nominating a sharp, hard rolling snr staff (preferably still pending his green card, non-working wife, BMWs and Carmel Valley jumbo mortgage) to do the batting and grunt work and most of the 'leading'.
