Thread regarding Sears layoffs

So has anyone actually managed to sell some Craftsman Ultimate Sets?

I've had a conversation with a handful of old timers. There were arched eyebrows about the price, and a couple of snarky comments about "my lifetime or Sears'?" warranty, and no one is going to spend that kind of price for Sears tools because people don't trust the Sears lifetime warranty anymore. No one bought it though.

If you want American made Craftsman, there's Lowe's. If you want tools that are just as good but with companies that are still around, there's Hilti, Dewalt, Bosch, Ryobi and tons of others for a hell of a lot cheaper. Eddie let APEX close down the North Carolina plant in 2010 and outsource to China in 2010, and Craftsman's name has been mud since. Lowe's and Stanley Black and Decker have spent a lot of time and money rebuilding the Craftsman name, and they'll reap some benefit. Not as good as it was, but some. There's no way a known sleazeball like Eddie S. Lampert will be able to piggyback off of any of that. Real Craftsmen know their tools.

Duh, Apex couldn't afford to wait, while Eddie played pocket pool with himself. Without orders, Apex had no other option.

The people on slickdeals seem to be buying them for the SYW points. Back to business as usual.
