Now that you guys are being transferred to ATS, have you heard of any changes on the horizon? I heard they offered FTTH installation to volunteers. Also, as a possible future union person, do you guys still have your cable benefit? Just curious

You can be the shopsteward and get picked even if you didn’t qualify. Funny, it is the same steward who tells others not to sign up.
Unions play favorites too.
as long as I'm not forced to complete my route if I'm booked past my end time, I'm in. Alot of us can't work past our end time and we can give work back. Just hope if my shop goes union one day, that doesn't go away. I know there's alot more to it but that's big to employees with families.

Before I get jumped. New or vets can be lazy. New or vet can be great. Time should not be the only deciding factor. And in a union, it is.
Just remember you will be 48 one day and probably be paying a mortgage and your kids college. Living with the rents doesn't last forever.
Agreed. Both situations s---. But the contract is in writing, no exceptions. A bad supervisor who plays favorites “should be” dealt with by upper management. That’s where management has fallen short. That is why they are now dealing with a union threat. Sorry, more of a “we told you so” to the tone deaf upper management clowns that let the local id--ts run the show like it’s their own private shop. But that being said, I’d take the hard working new guy over a lazy veteran any day.

"Oh you had that holiday last year, you can't have ot this year even though you planned a year in advance. You have plane tickets? Sorry, we closed that day with 1 guy off and he's only been here a couple months". "Oh you want to be on LTA FTTH? Yea, your too good of a tech here and make too money to learn that, we need you in the field". The list goes on

No changes. U must volunteer to install ftth and techs will b picked according to seniority. We keep our cable benefits.
