Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

The decisions seem to be made on baseless assumptions

Greed!

That is the only reason why. The leadership thinks they can pull in the same revenue with new sales teams just out of college. Absolute nonsense. These decisions seem to be made on baseless assumptions, and the sales and marketing leadership have no clue on what's going on in the field.

The real problem arises when you get a bunch on college hires in, train them, and then they leave for ariata and Cisco. It's only a matter of time.

This is a repost from @XKTzB4u-fyr , but the OP hit the nail on the head with this post.

Maybe the newest sales leader will fix the mess with compensation, before the BoD needs to get involved. Obviously he won't be able to bring back the sales teams already gone.

Yes, I would agree and add, the board of directors will need to intervene to clean up this mess.

Juniper, like any other company, needs a strong sales team to establish and sustain growth, and without this there is no chance to survive. Breaking into a new software driven cloud model will need a new breed of sales teams with knowledge of legacy and cloud based solutions. Hiring college grads does not solve this problem. Not even close.
