More depots are starting to see the light . Getting tired of " the altice way" which benefits management and the workers keep getting the shorter end of the stick. Constantly changing things making our jobs harder instead of keeping some things that make more sense in place. Taken soo much away since the take over and it doesnt seem to stop, more and more, here and there, medical keeps going up, lack of supplies, tools, uniforms, etc. The list keeps going. We are getting streched thin and revolting. Time has come.

The no layoff clause is in the contract itself, seperate from the new york agreement.
We have been kicking jobs back in Morris every day for months. It doesn't do a thing, and we aren't kicking them back out of laziness we are just over booked. The best action is never to do nothing so if that's your mentality then that's your choice just, but that's not in my blood. But that is the attitude management likes so your probably a favorite. Its crazy to not listen to both sides then make an informative decision. 2% is a small price for a possible insurance policy.
Is that lay-off claus the contract, or the ny state agreement? Is there a difference in the time table if it is a separate claus in the contract?
The no layoff clause in the brooklyn contract is pretty solid. Ill take 4 yesrs job security any day
So, what is in an Altice contract that guarantees employment? How about getting back to affordable health care? A pension? Raises that are above cost of living increase? Let’s get some of those sick and personal days back. If you want our vote, and our %2, do something to earn it.
Altice will never stop taking from it’s employees. The longer you wait to organize, the less chips you will have to bargain with when you finally sit down at the table. The 2% is well worth it, the union can’t bring back all that was lost, but at least they can help fight for what you have left. Never was pro-union, but this company leaves you with no choice other than to leave. IF YOU DON’T HAVE A SEAT AT THE TABLE, THEN YOU ARE ON THE MENU!
Too bad none of Altice eployees contracts don’t have any of the teeth that those examples you named do. Because using nurses and state employees as examples, we should be able to expect a nice pension plan. But you would have us sign contracts that offer none of the benefits these other groups receive. I’ve even seen Altice contracts that don’t allow us to strike. So yeah, I’ll vote to keep my %2 in my pocket, not the unions. PS, you still can’t make a post without insulting a counter view point, typical bully.
Why is it that in order to be against management we need to be pro union? They are not a binary choice. We know the company s---s. We also know the union will do nothing to restore what we lost, and the only sure thing they offer is a %2 pay reduction. Just a thought, some times the best action, is no action. Why not just do a safety slow down? If we are %100 safe out there, there is no possible way to get all our jobs done. If every one turns in an a1 install at the end of the day, that affects the company more than anything.
The question that needs to be asked @ your particular depot is:
-
what are you and your fellow techs doing about it?
-
what actions have you personally taken?
-
are you willing to put in the time & effort required to protect your employment?
