Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Enbridge not among Alberta's Top 75

... and yet we see Pembina, Inter Pipeline and Keyera and disturbingly, The City of Edmonton (where one fifth of employees report harassment) make the grade. Yes, it's an application process, but still, that we didn't even apply tells a tale for all to see. And takes away a point of pride.

What are we going to do in 2019-20 to turn this around?

Awards are rubbish. Potential hires look to Glassdoor and other websites to review comments made by current and past employees. Applying and paying fee for such would be a waste of money.

The people responsible for not applying should be promoted and given a bonus. At least the realized the waste of money and effort this award is.

Believe me it’s worthless and is only created to make money for the organization that awards it.

Hear all this, but the fact that we didn’t even apply points seems to be symbolic of the disengagement issue at hand. LP (other BUs?) Managers getting together for special ‘energize your team’ workshops. Quite likely those that did the application aren’t even around anymore.

So true. Sad thing is that people actually think you win this award by being an awesome Employer.

Just fill out the application. Pay the money and if you have said all the right things you get on the list. Simple as that.

It's more about politics than being a good employer. Who really cares?

I knew outside staff belonged to Unifor but I wasn't aware clerical staff were unionized in Ontari-owe.

Thar's not the case elsewhere in the company.

So if it’s so easy to harass co-workers and get a promotion why not do it yoursel? Or you’re just talking complete BS. At the end of the day YOU are responsible for YOURself - no one is there to babysit you.

Wrong. Enbridge Gas Distribution and Union Gas clerical and outside operations workers in Ontario are all Unionized. Total close to 1000. They belong to Unifor Local 975 in Ontario.

City of Edmonton is unionized. You generally can't be fired, especially for reporting bullying. Enb staff aren't unionized. You do the math.

To be honest this is a nonsense self serving award. The criteria to get it through the application process is minimal at best. It is not a true reflection of a company but rather more of a marketing tool to sell your product NOT to retain employees.

I am not from Rnbridge but rather one of their suppliers. We did this for years. Got it easily every year, but all we got was the cost of the application.

There are better ways to evaluate your employee moral.

At least City of Edmonton employees report harassment. At Enbridge, fear of reprisal keeps many quiet. Reporting harassment at Enbridge results in the person being harassed being shown the door, with the harasser being protected or given a promotion.
