Got a green signal from recent QCT all hands saying there are no layoffs planned for this year so far. Seriously, how much should we trust on that ? Provided some groups are still hiring. Do we expect to see drastic cutoffs after FTC trial goes against us ?

They should just sc-ape automotive and divert focus to do better things.
How about remaining IOT related stuff ?
"so far" seems hiding the truth. Engineers see right through. Automotive group seems logical to sell.
The bits that are not sold off are either "core mobile" or no one else wants.
Which other departments are for sale, little worried after all the drama seen lately!

Anything verging on significant in these meetings is always qualified, "as far as I know", "so far", "to the best extent" "or thereabouts", "yet".

"no layoffs planned for this year so far" means the process has not started. If they say "There will be no layoffs in FY19" that would be different!
You should know by the type of language they use, not to believe them.
"no layoffs planned" is the key phrase. They can't help it if unforeseen events cause more layoffs.
I was at QComedy long enough to know that most of management there is incapable of planning a child's birthday party, let alone anything of significance. Why do you think there are so many worthless meetings?
I'm at a FAANG now and we still can't find enough good people. If you have skills, did something besides come in late, leave early, and attend worthless meetings, you should easily find another job.
And $82 materially undervalues. And MOFCOM has to approve. And we will win on appeal. And i promise not to cum in your mouth. You really believe any of these?....
