Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

Students are leaving the "opened" schools because of missing Financial Aid payments

I teach at one of the "opened" AIs. Not sure why it is on the "opened" list, we don't have any janitorial staff (restrooms have not been cleaned in weeks) and the cafe has only a vending machine, but we are one of the EPF schools. I have lots of students who are now leaving or transferring due to the missing Financial Aid payments. This is my last quarter and I explain to the students that it is best to transfer and get out before the school goes up in smoke! Please understand the EPF schools will be closing as well, just not as fast as the schools under receivership. Splitting the schools up was only done to make sure that ALL of these schools don't crash and burn at the same time. All schools will close! This way the press is mostly local and not national. Studio Enterprise will drain the EPF schools, just as DCEH did. These are not 'non-profit' schools, they are predatory-cash-grabbing-scam schools. The Department of Education is allowing EPF to rob and steal federal funds, just as long as the whole system doesn't close on the same day.

If you are a teacher at any of these "open" schools, please do your students a favor and help them transfer out of this horrible mess! EPF / Studio Enterprise will worse than DCEH!

I’m a student and left this quarter, not because of the financial aid debacle, but because admissions was let go. Common sense tells me that if new students aren’t being admitted, then it is only a matter of time before institutional financing dries up, which inevitably would lead to a campus closing. Maybe this isn’t common sense, but it’s knowledge that could be learnt in a basic high school business class. Henceforth, there is only one of two conclusions to draw:

1) The powers to be are complete id--ts and inept to save the remaining schools, as demonstrated by such decision making as letting go admissions.

2) The powers to be have no intention of saving the remaining schools, which means their actions is a cash grabbing scam.

Either way, I refuse to waste my time doing coursework that most likely won’t transfer when the schools close in the end. So, any of my fellow students reading this, transfer now while your hard work still has any worth.

2jlt agreed

They are probably working on a book deal into a movie deal as we speak - -thinking they will make a bundle -- only they will have to give it all to the students.

There is a lot of truth on this post. Too bad most won't listen until it is too late. All of this (DCEH & EPF) will end very badly. Once the courts actually look at what is taking place, all of it will come to an abrupt end.

2cfa - We lost students over the last 3 weeks due to financial aid issues, that is a fact. I also have students who have missed class for the past 2 weeks, so they will be dropped. We haven't lost 'tons' of students, but we have lost some, yes. Next quarter I believe it will be much worse, students are lining up their options right now. How many come back is anyone's guess. Here is some "speculation" and "not fact" - We will have (far) fewer students at our at our "open" school next quarter!

Why should any students stay? All of this chaos taking place and no one addresses any of their concerns. The latest news cannot confirm if the Dept of Ed sent the funds to DCEH or if DCEH should have advanced the funds. Where is the missing money that EPF took from DCEH? If the court reverses the receivership and throws DCEH into Bankruptcy Court, the Bankruptcy Court will 'claw' back the funds taken by EPF that were improper.

In other words, DCEH and EPF schools could end up in Bankruptcy Court together and the court could very well VOID the EPF deal if the court finds the transfer was done to defraud creditors or the court.

So get the popcorn ready, the fat lady isn't done singing yet!

No proof of any students leaving. Just another attempt at causing chaos. What a sh--head.

Splitting the schools up was only done to make sure that ALL of these schools don't crash and burn at the same time.

Anyone else remember the events of June 29, 2018? DCEH a subsidiary of DCF tried to close dozens of campuses and layoff thousands of employees at one time. They were blocked by state and federal agencies and accreditation bodies.

They are just using a slow process now that they found they can keep collecting tuition in the process.

If you’re an instructor and you’re told, “you’re fired we’re cancelling all classes” or when payroll isn’t met, or the front door is locked on a school day, then the school might be closing. Right now it is all speculation- you have no facts, just opinion.

EPF schools are not closing. And if you are telling your students they are, you should be fired ASAP.

@ -mlx: spoken like a real SOB. It's ALL speculation (neither DCEH, EPF nor Studio Enterprise has given us any indication that the 'open' schools will stay opened).

There are some GREAT points made here (I agree with @XHKKL1c & @XHKKL1c-kpy). Name anyone associated with EPF or Studio Enterprise. Where is the missing Financial Aid? Will the Department of Education deny any of these schools to continue receiving federal loans? If either EPF or Studio Enterprise are professionals why would they not ask for proof that the Financial Aid was distributed properly from DCEH? Why would EPF grab the majority of the cash from DCEH (leaving DCEH without enough cash to make payroll through March)? There are too many present 'facts' to think these schools will all close.

Speculation. There is no proof of this statement.

I find it very strange that between EPF & Studio Enterprise has not named one person associated with either of these entities. Not one human has been brought forward to claim that they are in charge, at least DCEH named people involved. Where is the Local Board of Trustees that will be overseeing these schools at a local level?

I agree that EPF schools will be closing at some point, just a question of when (NOT if).
