Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

Show Me

Show me an honest admissions representative at any of these for-profit schools and I'll show you a unicorn. Both mythical creatures that don't exist.

I was an admissions person at Ai till the last lay-off. I was honest and really cared about my students. I was lied to by DCEH and. EDMC just like you. So don’t blame admissions for your failures.

Speaking for online----It was like these students were going to a private school, based on the convenience, academic resources and assistance that was provided. In some instances it was hand holding for the students' first 3 or 4 classes, and some students would not have been successful if they attended a traditional college and did not have this added assistance.

This is true of AiO as well. LOTS of handholding and some more like most students would not have been successful if they attended a traditional college.

Terrible and laughingly expensive schools with historically pathetic grad and retention rates. That says it all and whatever your role in propping up this malignant toxic mess will precede you going forward.

That's your legacy, be proud,

I exist and im not a unicorn. There are quite a few of us. Trying to fix holes created by unethical owners. Most of the school leaders are not to blame for the $ and fraud etc. Edmc and much more so dceh removed all visability from the school leadership; otherwise we all would have caught on.

Speaking for Argosy only......They actually have great, marketable programs---so that was never a problem.

Speaking for myself---I really cared for my students and went out of my way to help them to be successful. Again, the programs, academic resources available to students, and assistance provided were never a problem.

I enrolled, started, and assisted a lot of students through graduation, and I have no regrets or no reason to feel guilty. Again, Argosy offered marketable programs for seeking employment in the related fields of study.

Honestly, this is why I am looking for another job. I can not continue to enroll students in this school-knowing what I know.

Stop blaming admissions for a decision you made. If you weren't a successful student, that's on you..not admissions. WEAK..

I have to agree about the advisors!!

“Hi, can you allow student x to submit late work from the last week? They have been: 1) on a cruise, 2) added “late” by us, 3) have failed a few times so we’re forcing them into this class again so they can maintain their/our financial aid.

If you don’t comply we will report you to 5 different people who will put more pressure on you to not do the right thing, but to ensure customer service happens.”

It’s the advisors who have degraded these schools from a reputable institution to one of greed and sales numbers.

@XFHZ45Q-lzh,

Not employee so that s---s, hope your doing better in class rather than judging individuals.

So you did not receive your stipend, what did you need the excess money for if books are included in your tuition and your quarter is paid for by Title IV?

Remember the DOE states that Title IV funding can only be used for educational purposes. So make sure your honest in your response tuff guy.

It’s those “advisors” who are the real criminals. They make their living badgering faculty to pass students who are failing, some even haven’t been able to read or write well.

OK, I apologize. Being rude to members of a sanctimonious window dressing pity party criminal conspiracy is so wrong and uninformed.

Now if you'll intercede for the legions of defrauded students to help get their money back, I promise to not be so rude in the future---NOT!!!

Stipends were one of the selling points used by admissions. No kidding.

XFHZ45Q-sij (and sounds like you're a soon to be out of work crook)

QUESTION:

" If the representative was not honest with you, why did you sign up for class? "

ANSWER:

Maybe because the representative was not honest with the student, ya think.

Sounds like more of an outside observer than a student, and so the same with the "probably because you wanted that stipend" reply. To be sure, there are plenty of more than fair criticisms and outrages that can be directed towards Argosy and that entire business model, but the bizarre implication that the students held their nose and registered just for stipends ... that's a bit beyond the moon and not a little cruel for the students who are suffering right now w/o those stipends.

You can hold the opinion that a student made a mistake enrolling at Argosy, but don't diminish that the reality they're confronting right now is harsh, outrageous, and utterly unfair.

Sounds like you were a student. If the representative was not honest with you, why did you sign up for class? Probably because you wanted that stipend 🤷🏻‍♂️
