Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

Will we get paid?

I am an adjunct at AiO, and I am becoming increasingly concerned that I will not see paychecks for the classes I am currently teaching, based on the news coming out now on how limited funds are, and the critical need to provide students with their expected aid. Anyone in a position to know? I don't want to bail on my students, but I am also struggling to pay the bills....

There may be hope to get paid but may take a while. I was one of the Ai layoffs in January. Our final paychecks were not accurate. After contacting hr1connect by phone and email, we just finally got paid for missing hours. So there’s hope.

Yes, thank you for being so noble and I almost forgot the sacrifice part too.

When DeVos took over it looked like the "punish universitys" agenda was over. I guess not. Most companies make accounting errors, so this is no big deal. They need to let us move on with the major task of educating students for work on the 21st century. Keep regulaters out of higher education so trained administors and faculty can help stduents.

From a student who does have an adjunct instructor, thank you for your sacrifice. It's truly noble and appreciated by us all.

Again, from a student, do what you need to do for you. I appreciate the sacrifice, but I also appreciate reality.

Contractors haven’t been paid since October and of course Brent Richardson, family and long time associates paid themselves first.

Criminals!

Argosy Faculty was paid this last Friday. 2 people had been fired, but when receiver learned they had teaching duties they were brought back until the end of the semester. That seems to imply an intent to finish the semester

Contractors who did work for DCEH haven't been paid in months. I don't think we'll ever see the money. I hope that it does work out for you and that you are paid for the work you've done.

It seems AiO is ok for at least another session - but who knows -- if students start transferring, enrollment goes down -- most likely full time faculty will be the first to go over adjuncts since they are paid salary. It's more cost effective to use adjuncts.

My 2 cents - if you have to ask the question - should be answer enough -- best to work elsewhere like a community college if you are struggling financially -- DO NOT rely on AiO for income - that should just be extra.

Finishing this session with pay should be ok -- it's up in the air after.

During my time working there, Argosy implemented accounting and business practices that would have bankrupted private companies years ago. They would waive or partially waive balances for returning students that were never financially cleared and schedule them for classes without a FAFSA. The processes were backwards. Companies that cannot manage their finances go under and Argosy is no different. The problem here is that taxpayers are ones footing this subprime college loan bubble and no administration wants to reduce the TITLE IV funding gold rush. Government backed loans for colleges and college students is what created this mess. Colleges now have an incentive to recruit unqualified college students that go to school for a stipend, instead of working hard to obtain a diploma. Burn it to the ground!

I’m so sorry that you have to go through this. You sound like a good person conflicted. I understand. End of the day...what’s good for you and yours. God Bless you so much. I feel your sincerity. Thank you for your humanity.
