Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Some of the Changes told by Mkt Mgr

The REAL DEAL

Call happened to day from Market Managers to Store Managers for Phase 1. These changes will roll out in Phases. It will be similar to the Stores meeting goals on the CAMP process.

Store Managers received an email today that outlined the impacts of Phase 1 in their store.

All changes have to do with the elimination of staffing due to changes in technology and store structure. TIME TO TRIM THE FAT!

Changes are STORE SPECIFIC! Not all stores will see all changes until their store is affected in future Phases.

Below are a few of the changes coming.

PHASE 1

Day Stocking (based on volume of your store)

Overnight Asst Managers will have to find a position within 60 days. Depending on volume one may be retained.

Overnight Support Mgrs positions will be gone.

All 3rd shift will be eliminated, CSM, Cashiers, Maintenance, and Stockers.

Positions will move to CAP 1 (4am-1pm) or absorb into the days/evenings if open positions.

Maintenance in tile floor stores will start at 4am. Cuts will be made for stores that went from tile

to concrete and also for stores with the robot floor machines.

Technology Stores

Will lose 2 dept mgrs

E-Commerce - Store specific

If store is under 900 orders/have a pick up tower/no Online Grocery they will eliminate

e-commerce GM, Pick Up will be handled by CAP 1 and Directs.

If store is over 900 orders/have a pick up tower they will reduce staffing.

OGP will still run with staff.

Jewelry ReInvention - Store specific

Stores losing all jewelry showcases, and will transition to only costume jewelry. Will lose staff and

Dept Mgr will be reclassified.

Stores keeping a limited showcase will reduce staffing.

Money Centers - Store specific

Some stores based on volume will be losing their money center. Eliminating staff in this area.

Automotive Care Center

If technicians do not have a drivers license they will have 2 weeks to obtain or be terminated.

Makes sense if you work in TLE you have a drivers license.

START MAKING YOUR PLANS FOR FUTURE PHASES!

DON'T GET CAUGHT SLEEPING!

IT WILL CONTINUE

If you are FT, Walmart gives you FREE life insurance to the beneficiaries you name. It is equal to your average yearly pay.

Mod team will be moving 4am-1pm, just had the meeting last night. People are mad but it is mostly the lazy workers that get away with everything that work nights, the good workers are mostly fine with it because management knows who the good workers are and they will get the open positions over the lazy ones.

1162 store is small and the uppers management is Terrible; young, corrupt, will not train, picks on people with Sedgwick that do Not abuse it and cutting hours with a recording I have that a manager will not touch the schedule due to computer generated and then changes schedule withOUT telling employees. I never shopped at Walmart b4 working there...I will most certainly not now since I quit due to a huge schedule FUBAR. I feel sorry for the employees who hv to support thier family..get put while you can.

Who would think a job at Walmart was safe?

I can't imagine a company that insures the life of their employees and names the COMPANY as beneficiary would be expected to do the right thing in any circumstance

Walmart is bringing in AI robots to do many of the jobs that managers are doing

they are also converting their system over to a Amazon model of doing business.

Internet sales are more profitable

All the people being let go they have to be giving you a reason they are not just bringing you in the office and telling you to turn your keys in and have a good day. Ethics ple gross misconduct. Some more info would be helpful

I am also an ASM with no coachings or development needed evaluation. Have been with the company 10 years and an ASM for 5. Was let go on Wednesday. Was asked to hand over my keys and walkie and was walked out of the building. Glad I’m Gone! I wouldn’t have left without that push’

High volume and academy safe phase 1. Look at calendar on wall of your SM office and months/quarters color coded for the various phases and future roll outs.

Daystock and 3rd shift eliminate(YES supercenter too)

NHM closings (100's) they have class wk7-9 on it how to embrace

ASM & apm elimination and head count to 5super & 1 small

People manager replacing both PC/tc

FAST unload full roll out by volume first

Autobot for Ecomm

Customer experience team (new) for all the smart carts and facial recognition software/geo-fencing (the cameras you thought were ap in plain sight hanging saying recording in process)

NO overnight stocking and daystock supercenter was on OBW briefly but disappeared last week

Service desk return re invention with opening of customer care facilitys (low volume NHM's that close)

Lots going on y'all to naive to think will really happen and plenty of pilot and proof of concept stores in full swing now across US.

Google some of it and you'll see it's credible sources and not THE LAYOFF hype

Try Doug McMill. testifying to Congress on our bribe scandal or try Pontiac retirement fund vs. Mike dukee or how about the infamous"Duke suit" over discrimination from years back creating career preference that was just refiled in Miami January 2019

Or a simple GOOG search of WM and new patents

Wake up and smell the coffee people.....life is happening in front of you and y'all to naive to believe or think it can happen

You all better wake up. I was with Kmart for over 25 years. Best company EVER. I saw what was coming and left in 1995. Go ahead and consider them OUT OF BUSINESS. The stores are already in horrible shape from changes a year ago and cannot move forward. Plain and simple; they have LOST it. I am going to put this out there. DOLLAR GENERAL have been the smart company. Small stores are what people want. You can find grocery and clothing stores any where. Yea for Dollar General. You are putting them out of business.

Techs in ACC area have always had to have licenses. Can not be hired without and if a license is lost, tech can no longer be in the position.

I found a document on my SM desk, its a checklist of how and when to lay off ASMs. Today feb 15th, is the date that the SM is supposed to have conversations with affected ASMs to step down according to this checklist. From what i heard, if u got a development needed on your eval, you are the one to go.

I said in 2010 when big changes started taking place with AM and a subtle change in management happened that this is the beginning of the end for Walmart. I close my eyes, pray, and take very deep breathes throughout the changes, hoping I will survive, which I did. Now almost 10 yrs later and having an accident that was not my fault, I see the handwriting on the wall..... I'm fulltime getting part-time hrs spread out just enough to keep fulltime status..... the handwriting is on the wall for me, but I'm sticking it outI as long as I can....for now.

Some of this is a load of c-ap. Why would they spend all this money on training for apparel CAP and then eliminate 3rd shift?!? They are one of the key components to the new process. I have heard about the ASMs getting cut and know for a fact that some Jewelry Depts went away. Third shift has to keep stockers, at least in Supers.

Store Managers are some real pieces of dog sh*t. Gag order or no gag order there’s a human Level here that’s non existent and it’s pathetic. They cry about you giving them two weeks notice but when it comes to saving money they will lay you off in a heartbeat with no notice and without thinking twice.

I am a salary manager and my store management team had our meeting regarding this today. While most everything you read on this site is utter nonsense this post is accurate. My store is not a 100 mil store but non of these changes are currently affecting anyone in my store. Other stores in my market will b affected but not mine this phase

Doesn't everyone remember the manager had to do evals on asst mgr? Ranking and eliminating is what this seems like. And to the ones saying they have never heard of this without a 30/60 day buyout, this has been almost like th co mgr position. But this time they didn't give them 30/60 days. Ranking top 25% may be move to other store(so the other posts have said) and bottom 25% cut loose

Only way I see someone being let go without coaching's if there job is eliminated. That's usually stated to be a future date (atleast 60 days) due to the WARN act.

I am an ASM and have been one for almost four years. My MM was here this morning and I was called to the SM office. I was let go and it looked like he had a list of several more to talk to.

It was a surprise. I have never had any problems, not one write up or anything and always good reviews

It is a good thing. I can see the handwriting on the wall. Retail is dying and I needed to get out and find a career with a future. This just gave me a needed push!
