Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Everyone’s had a year to find a new job

Everyone’s had a year to find a new job. If you’ve been in your role a very long time, like over 5+ years, never grown or had a promotion, you’re a gone. My group is slow as molasses. We all know it’s just a matter of time, and that time is most likely April.

They gave you a year of having an easy job, slow pace, plenty of time to find another job, so don’t be surprised when you get two weeks total severance and kicked to the curb.

The only ones they may keep for a while are newer employees who are not as jaded. If you’ve been there less than 2 years, you’re probably safe for animal couple of years....they can’t layoff everyone....yet....just the lifers and people with 5+ years there.

Plan accordingly.

It's hard to determine your status when they keep changing your title and grade level willy nilly with no rhyme or reason!

Nope. Memo went out last year, new severance with SS&C is only 2 weeks no matter how long you were there.

I want to get laid off. Two weeks pay for each year is 28 weeks for me. That is 7 months pay. Not back!

If you're bored you should be getting on Youtube and teaching yourself new skills.

I got out of DST in 2017, two weeks after a layoff, and a large part of that was my taking the initiative to learn about Sharepoint and Confluence, which are used across several industries for a myriad of of purposes in information management.

There are jobs, but no one is going to hire you if all you know how to do is process things in TA2000, and if years of layoffs haven't motivated you to do more, then you're most definitely screwed.

Here’s the rub- after you leave, no one seems to remember DST anymore. They never did a great job promoting their brand. I was proud to work there and liked the company, left well ahead of the buyout. It’s sad to say, but whenever I mention DST as a

former employer people ask “what do they do?” And we all know that’s not a simple story to tell. Makes the time spent there seem insignificant or irrelevant. Keep in mind as time moves forward the story of DST will vanish even further into obscurity.

In my office people pretend to be busy. Everyone’s looking for a new job but no one is hiring. And we’re talking all different levels. It’s very weird. Something is not right in the “great economy “.

I know people who have been doing the same job for 10 years. I am not sure why they never wanted to grow or gain more experience. Yes, I agree, those types are going to get cut next. Newer hires less than 2 years are safer because they were brought in during the merger and planned. But I’d still jump ship for a better job, if one comes along.

There are no jobs out there. I’m not leaving unless the lay me off. I’m bored but everyone I talk to says they hate their job, so whatever.
