I got an invite for a private hiring event for Microsoft. There is no specific role for which this event is conducted. Does MS really hire candidates in such events ? or is it some kind of marketing gimmick ?
Seeing such events are other companies too - like Cognizant and BofA, Chase.

Think twice before taking an offer from Microsoft. Interview a lot of ex-employees first before diving in and drinking the koolaid from a fire hose.
Go for it. It’s legitimate. Check if they are booking your hotel stay and flight tickets.
These events are essentially a replacement for a round of on-site interviews. You'll show up you'll interview with 3-5 different people just as you would for an on-site and they'll make a hiring decision based on your performance that day.
I would be super careful. Granted I am a grunt manager and may not have exposure for all things done at Microsoft, in my five years here I never hard about 'private hiring' events... I am not saying this is fake, I am just saying be careful.
