How likely is it to get rejected when applying for voluntary layoff?
This was asked in another thread, but I was hoping putting it on top would ensure more people saw it and actually answered. I'm thinking of moving on, but I also don't want to put a target on my back if there is a chance I'd be rejected.
Its all about money now, so I would apply and look for a soft landing. As you may not get one if left to your manager. I have heard of programs loosing 40% or more of there budget even if your a great worker there still is no budget.
I volunteered and got rejected.....
BTW, the severance package is standard; There is no extra incentive for
volunteering.
Let me respond having been a former RTN senior manager..... If you are doing a great job (by getting great performance reviews). no manager would even consider targeting you as they want to keep their "stars". However, if you are "star" and volunteer to leave, it will definitely raise a flag with your manager that you are likely unhappy and therefore, looking to leave at some point in the future. If there's another RIF in the future, you could be setting yourself up as a target yourself for the next RIF IMHO.
It’s not a guarantee... the senior manager discretion... you could persuade them I’m sure.
If you want to leave or “kinda want to leave”, volunteer... doubt you’d be marked if you’re doing a good or great job.
