Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

Faculty qualifications

Do any other campuses do this? One of our regular adjuncts in Pittsburgh was hired straight after graduation from AI with Bachelors degree.

2bgp not true unless they recently changed the requirements. I was adjunct at several schools accredited by SACS - all adjuncts were required to have a masters degree

"that's a Middle States violation -- and SACS - they must have a Masters degree"

Not true for SACS. Adjuncts do not have to have a Masters Degree. Only full-time instructors.

None of this will matter most likely -- we have been sold!

SACS. Full-time Instructors must have a Masters Degree with a minimum of 18 hours in their discipline. Adjunct do not have to have a Master Degree.

'DCEH has destroyed '--' you’re pathetic' -- 'seeing the hatred in these posts from some that take their hatred of any company or it’s employees to this degree is far is disgusting' -- 'Grow up' -- too funny

Based on your own language -- it's clear you are one of the haters too - time for you to grow up and get life - why do you bother coming back here then if you quit and don't like what is written here.

You must a troll administrator

Anyone offering s---c-de as an option should seek professional help. If you’re so upset about a job or a school that you feel the need to post anything along those lines, you’re pathetic.

I quit months ago and am thankful for that. It’s clear DCEH has destroyed whatever chance Ai has of turning around, but seeing the hatred in these posts from some that take their hatred of any company or it’s employees to this degree is far is disgusting.

Grow up.

You people are sickenly delusional, as usual. Who cares about the pay to play nonsense bogus accreditation of these "great instructors" and "schools." It's a joke, always has been.

Now you can concentrate on the really important ruminations like how many angels can boogaloo on the heads of you pinheads.

It's over, face it!

Feel free to kill yourselves now and do the world a favor.

In Pittsburgh, the majority of the instructors just got degrees from AI or Argosy. The MBA and PhD programs at Argosy are a joke. Literally, students did assignments for instructors.

Several years ago -- SACS required all faculty at aio to verify they were qualified to teach the courses they were credentialed for -- they had to prove they had 18 credit hours in that area and/or experience - either way they still had to have a masters degree period. All faculty had to do this because aio was teaching students through the plus program from areas SACS had jurisdiction in -- Fact --from first hand witness --

SACS does allow -- but that faculty must obtain a masters degree within a certain amount of time - so for example - a faculty with 20 years of industry experience may by hired to teach but then must obtain a masters degree to continue teaching - fact based on first hand experience

Sacs determines eligibility of faculty by experience in addition to education. If a former student has significant experience in a particular area, they can be eligible to teach. It must be probable. It is not as easy as it sounds. Our Ai was told we must replace all faculty without a Masters degree . We have not done that and have instead hired even more unqualified instructors. This will not go over well.

This happens at Ai and AU. It is common practice to hire a recent grad to teach.

“SACS does allow the university to employ faculty who do not meet the guidelines as long as the university has a process and criteria for justifying and documenting exceptions” and this is how they get away with it.

The previous response was incorrect. SACS and Middle States allow exemptions based on the faculty's previous experience and abilities. It is pretty common practice in education across private and public institutions. It is a tough question to answer without more details on the grad. But here are some specifics from SACS.

SACS requirements "Faculty teaching baccalaureate courses: doctoral or master’s degree in the teaching discipline or master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline). At least 25 percent of the discipline course hours in each undergraduate major are taught by faculty members holding the terminal degree—usually the earned doctorate—in the discipline."

But there are exemptions....."SACS does allow the university to employ faculty who do not meet the guidelines as long as the university has a process and criteria for justifying and documenting exceptions. For all cases, the institution is responsible for documenting and justifying (as needed) the qualifications of its faculty."

They must be planning on not being accredited anymore -- admins with bachelors degrees only have been teaching classes for quite some time.
