Turmoil at Dream Center Colleges Spills Open With Seattle “At-Risk” Designation

The financial and organizational turmoil at Dream Center Educational Holdings (DCEH), reported to me by multiple staff in recent weeks, has spilled into the open with, at least, a new letter from a Washington state higher education oversight body. In a letter sent Thursday to the campus director of DCEH’s Art Institute of Seattle (Ai Seattle), the Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) said the school was now designated as at-risk of closure after, according to WASC, “DCEH informed WSAC that it faces potential financial insolvency.”

Not in article is that landlord just kicked AI Seattle out of half of their campus. Students just found out this week. No more kitchens for culinary program. They are supposed to run classes out of rental kitchen now but no one has seen it. Staff had to demand to be let into building to get their stuff. And they still signed up new students. It’s all very shady and someone should tell Halperin so he can report on it.

The now gone president hid in her office or took sick leave. There were floods and fires in the building. The walls are full of black mold that makes people constantly sick.

So by saying DCEH is reporting “financial insolvency” is that all brands or just AI?

It's about time they saw the truth behind the last year (or 2) of the school. So many good people have left because they were understaffed and ignored. Unless you "count" Brown and Monday- no one from DCEH ever came to the school to discuss their "vision". It was done by a shoddy video or lengthy conference calls with the people on the other end sounding extremely ignorant. This once good school can not be revived. Faculty and staff were told nothing and were left completely in the dark.

Just wait until the rest of the storyline plays out. The “ONE” university model is out the window now.

Thanks for the info, but which one is it? WSAC or WASC? And if it is two organizations, could you spell out who WASC is?
