I was let go from BFDS in October 2017 after 24 years and employed elsewhere in Nov 2017 to current day. Last night I grabbed my mail and had a 9x12 envelope with the SS&C logo. There was a jumble of sentences on page 1&2 basically indicating that SS&C was reviewing personnel decisions made by my previous employer. Page 3 of the letter had a questionnaire inquiring as to whether I had returned to the workplace. Where/When I was employed and whether I would be open to scheduling an interview off-site and potentially employed at SS&C in a similar capacity as my former position at a negotiated pay rate and PTO time. A return envelope with a Braintree address was included with two actual USPS stamps not a preprinted postmark. Anyone else receive this? I will not responding. As the day I drove away from the building I left that place behind.

I think it’s real. My friend laid off in 2016 is back at her job at dst. I did not think you can get rehired so soon after taking money in a layoff
Hard. Pass.
2,500 employees gone give or take 500 through layoffs and attrition since early 2017. Likely layoffs to come early summer and fall of 2019. Constent game of musical chairs with leadership. Company provides no direction for the future except to get more customers signed onto old software and cut costs. Companies billions in debt with extreme disorganization due to continouse acquisitions. Last but not least the company will gladly layoff there most tenured employees to cover up failed leadership. Dont worry the company can always send a letter out to those talented individuals they deemed of no further worth to the company. Employees still here including myself are and have been on borrowed time. Its natural human behavior to think you are less valuable and resourceful then you truly are.
I also received over a week ago. And until I saw this I thought it was a joke or that SS&C was taking some type of effin poll. Letter has a respond by date of 1/29 and I'm undecided to pursue as it would not only be akward going back, but even more so if others that are there ended up being laid off between now and 1st or 2nd quarter.
I would send it back with a note saying; kindly go **** yourself.
Also, if you're at BFDS and see any of these people coming back, you should really go ask for a raise. Because anyone coming back is going to be at a significantly higher level than they ever were before.
Interesting, and not really a surprise. Thanks for letting us know though. In the race to cut 'hangers' it's inevitable that they cut too deep, or cut the wrong skill sets. I know for a fact some of the legacy products are suffering for lack of support, even now. "No releases this year, not enough people to do the work". SS&C is like the alligator who tried to swallow the zebra (the zebra is DST in this analogy fyi).
Why not pursue it though? Give them some outlandish numbers and see if they bite? I've gotten myself some very shiny golden handcuffs via such "eff it" negotiating, in the past.
that is messed up. I would never go back.
