I have heard some good results but for the most part - Doctors and Hospitals won't accept it - maybe those on the west coast are having better luck

HealthJoy is just a concierge service that also gives you access to online doctors.

BAS is the third-party administrator / benefits administrator https://bashealth.com/

This type of insurance i think is called "Reference based pricing," https://bashealth.com/services/reference-based-pricing/

Did anyone read the fine print on the HSA? Lots of fees if you use it or don’t use it. It is more like a prepaid Visa than an HSA.

HealthJoy is a Chicago-based startup that just announced a funding round with Chicago Ventures & Social Capital.

Good luck finding decent health insurance anywhere. Obamacare has turned health insurance into a huge expensive joke. You're now paying a thousand dollars a month for an insurance card, not for health insurance.

I used the new insurance and my doctor still saw me. The receptionist called BAS and they approved my dcopays. They didn't have any problems at all. I just paid my copay.

It’s not insurance so how can it be popular anywhere?

“ Our platform is like an operating system for healthcare engagement.” CEO Justin Holland.

It’s an operating system without the mechanics to make it all work. My car has a computer operating system in the dashboard. It also has to have an engine (doctors), tires (hospitals), etc to function as a whole car. Health insurance has all the components needed to exist as health insurance.

I assume most of you having issues are not on the west coast, where this type of insurance is common. All this company does is negotiate costs of service that as an HSA you pay. If u are engaged, after 3k they pay, if you arent (meaning u got no negotiated discount price) then its 6k

Welcome to healthcare in 2019....

Basically no health care and no alternatives. Can't use the ACA because the employer offered us the illusion of health care. perhaps the plan is to make life so unbearable for the employees that they will all quit and the wonderful DCEH folks can just pull up stakes.

It’s not healthcare. It’s an app started by a start up company to help people find healthcare. A real healthcare company has negotiating power for pricing due to the number of customers, contracts, etc.

The creator of the app’s sales pitch to companies is that real “health insurance is handing your employees a credit card to go to a restaurant without any prices.” He goes on to say “the employee is going to order whatever the waiter suggests, like steak.” Health joy stops your employee from ordering the steak. Or in healthcare terms, the stint surgery or medication needed to prevent a big heart attack.

It’s soecifically designed for employers, not patients, to stop you from getting the steak.

Basically, we don't have health care, just the illusion of health care.

An update: HealthJoy called my provider and left a message. My provider's assistant called them back and was left on hold for over an hour before giving up. If that's how it's gonna go I don't think my provider is going to "engage"

I'm still waiting for them to approve my providers. I gave them all the info on Jan. 1 as requested and the app says it usually takes 24 hours. It's now been 168 and counting. Concierge told me last week that my requests would be expedited. Still no approvals. Not impressed so far.

As I understand it, HealthJoy is NOT an insurer; they are the Benefits Administrators. Dream Center is self insured, meaning they cover the expenses once the deductibles are met or split the costs with the employee if you're on the copay plan. All HealthJoy does is negotiate the price. Your providers should be sending their insurance claims to BAS in Milwaukee and in the meantime you get to pay the full cost of the visit or the copay (depending on the plan) until you've reached the out-of-pocket cap.

you can go to any doctor, you just have to call HealthJoy first...that is my understanding. Your doctor not agreeing to the new terms?
