Unpaid Aid

Here we go again with the unpaid aid. We have stopped all admissions activity to focus on unpaid aid. How is this our job??? Seems like they are trying to get as much money from the students as they can before closing the doors.

Now it’s even more clear that you have zero idea what you’re talking about. Go get your shine box.

1ohd -- of course that's correct - but this thread is about collecting - maybe you should read

LMAOL -

'We have stopped all admissions activity to focus on unpaid aid. How is this our job??? Seems like they are trying to get as much money from the students as they can before closing the doors.'

'They are in a big hurry to collect the money by Jan 1'

They are in a big hurry to collect the money by Jan 1, that should make you think about whats really going on. RED FLAG!

Well it’s very lead the person whining about FERPA has zero idea what they’re talking about. Admissions does not collect or force them to pay. They help to clear their aid through document collection.

1bzu you are not authorized to see what they owe and force them to payup

you are only authorized to know the beginning of their history

Just curious. I know its your job and we all need paychecks, but to anyone particiating in recruiting new students, in admissions or at open houses, how do you keep straight face encouraging prospectives to sign up, without telling the truth that school will not be here for long?

If they are new students, Admissions should help getting the students in to submit their documents. It will only benefit the student to get their aid in so they don't end up with an unpaid balance that eventually goes to collections.

We’re authorized by the students to see those records there is no FERPA violation

You people need to brush up on your FERPA regulations - it's called protecting student records

It’s not illegal. That’s just silly. We’re not collecting money from them. We’re letting them know what’s needed to clear them for their aid to pay in. The people saying it’s illegal sound like the sovereign citizens that don’t think they have to abide by the laws everyone else does.

It isn't your job - it's illegal

You are dealing with student records and their financial records -- admissions people are not qualified or trained in this area -- you are not privy to see this information. If a student sues you will be held accountable and be used as a scape goat.

Collections should only be done by the financial office period.

At least you’re starting to realize that the doors are closing. You’re smarter than many others here who failed to believe it.
