Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Shirt supervisor here

I struggle to make ends meet with 40 hours a week . We are now being scheduled 30 hours a week and I can not pay my bills. I also have to work 6 days to get in the 30 hours and shifts are all 4-9 closings. Been here 15 years never seen it this bad. There are no jobs in my town!

The sorry help is always cut first. The pt cashier most likely is a better a-- kisser than you or less trouble to manage. Managers do not cut hours on the good help, I promise you!

So sorry for you and family! You can claim unemployment if you are cut below 15 hours over a 12 week period unless you are recoded to a pt status which the company is allowed to do. Cutting labor is not against the law unless it is bias against a federally protected class of employees. Best thing to do is just find other work that will appreciate your contribution to the company. Also this is not unethical, store manager within her rights to do this to you! Sorry

You only have to average 30 hours per week over a six month period. You can be scheduled 23 hours for that week at full time. I know it’s the horrible facts

Idk about the unemployment but if you're classified as FT she can't cut you below 30 hours. I would call the ethics line. It may mean you're ringing more than you care for, but hours are hours.

I am ft shift. Schedule posted for new year today. I was cut to 22 hours over 5 days, all closing and weekend shifts. Confrontation with manager . I simply asked why she was keeping pt cashiers on day shifts and cutting my hours and the other 2 shifts also! I was told to get use to it. Can I file for unemployment benefits when my pay is cut like this? I need help and advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s ok I’ll be counting my beans and paying my Benz payment while your a-- is standing on the corner begging for change once your job is gone. And guess what? Not one of us Pharmacists will bat an eye at you FS losers. We won’t miss you bye bye! Have fun at the unemployment office hahaha!

Pharmacy- I wasn’t good enough to get into medical school so I settled for the next best thing.

Lol Pharamcist are like mall cops that couldn’t get hired as real cops.

Pharmacy is overpaid anyways. A chimp could do their jobs. Just a bunch of overpaid bean counters. When we are all gone who is going to take out the trash you id--ts can’t seem to be bothered with, or change the roll of toilet paper in bathroom because you’re too entitled to change yourself. If it’s happening to us it’s only a matter of time before the squeeze is put on you. Better buck up, you’re gonna need to do good to keep those Benz and Beemer payments coming.

Wow. So easy to be a jerk to a shift sup and say they are lucky when the person making this claim is a pharmacist or store manager. Those raises earlier this year weren’t worth c-ap when they got their hours cut. Especially in some markets where that was already the minimum wage. Get off of cvs’s Nuts.

Fs employees were capped earlier by years of service. Pharmactly staff weren't capped so strictly.

Of course the first post is from a pharmacist who would say this shift should be making more at 30 hours. Quick math lesson:

15 buck hour at 40 hours 600 dollars

20 bucks an hour at 30 hours is 600 dollars.

Pay raise would have to be over 33 percent the oriiginal salary to make the same.

So how much do you think this person increased his hourly rate by?

So apparently reading comprehension is not a job requirement to be a store manager. If you had bothered to read the post he said he was a shift supervisor. And considering that we shifts carry you guys, I don’t think we get paid enough. You guys just b--ch and moan about how awesome you are and how you deserve more while sitting on your a-- in the office all day. Meanwhile we do BOH, the planograms, IRAs you guys are supposed to do, price changes and cycle counts you feel too entitled to do, we set seasonal because you feel too entitled to do that as well, let’s not forget our if dates, PWs and RFCs because you don’t feel it’s in your job title to do that either, we unload and work the trucks you can’t be bothered doing or even come to work for. Let me know if I’ve forgotten anything else because i will be happy to put you in your place little man. You guys don’t run sh-- and that is why you talk all the sit you do because you have to justify you’re not as worthless as you all are. When they let all you worthless many, go us shifts will just smile and wave at you.

You can work at fast food joints for $15 an hour in some markets...doing less work.

Most places pay cashiers 9 bucks an hour. Truth is you know that and that is why you stay. To make 14 an hour with as little responsibility as you have is excellent pay however you look at it. Try asking 14 at a supermarket to run a register. You do 2000 a day they do 100,000 a day. Count your blessings you work for a great company that pays you well. Where is the respect? Cry cry cry . You do not know reality

Caps are not the same everywhere. They are based on markets /cost of living.

The first commenter is an overpaid, entitled a--hole who probably can’t even run a cash register and like a good chunk of store managers and DMs only got his position by being part of the good ole boys club. Just because you got a raise don’t mean sh-- when your hours are cut. This is the exact reason why SMs and DMs should be hourly, then they can’t do the work 4 hours and and go home, but collect 45 a week anyways BS they all do. See if another store has any extra hours or needs a hand. Working 6 days for 30 hours is a bit much, that’s called your manager is screwing you and/or doesn’t know how to write a proper schedule.

Actually 17 per hour is cap! Max raise you could get was 5 percent on top of your annual performance raise

Don't listen to the haters. CVS doesn't care about you. My town has nothing but retail jobs as well. It's just gonna be a real struggle for a bit. Hopefully I can move to a bigger city.

14 $ - that's not major

You received a major hourly raise last year. Your pay should be the same even though you work less hours. You actually like the easy work load, that’s why you do not want to work elsewhere. Can you spell lazy? Try working your tail off in Rx
