I've got nothing to hide. I left that Raleigh group more than 10 years ago, and frankly, I don't see what took it so long to come to this. San Diego and RTP were both messed up, and very clique-ish. The contractors were doing most of the work; meanwhile the full-time custom folks would design a block, only to find out later that an ASIC team ran a full P&R flow on the exact same block, and that outperformed the custom. If you were an expert in your field, that didn't matter--you had to be "in". If you weren't "in", you had no stature in the company, no future there. Leaving there is a decision I do not regret. But like I said, I don't understand why it wasn't shut down sooner.

Staying sharp professionally and contributing to humanity are all good things in my book, but my #1 thing is that I don't want to sell my soul just to be "in". This cronyism nonsense is stealing, pure and simple. They're stealing from Qualcomm. And that means they basically robbed some people of their jobs--good people, who wanted to stay there, and wanted to do a better job, if they only had better leadership. Or were the leadership.
Very clique-ish indeed. Even leaving and starting something "new". Those guys pat each other on the back... Let me follow the bouncing ball:
. management knows "nothing"? (lies)
. told everyone to stand firm and not leave, we're not going anywhere (lies)
. turned around and was already looking to leave and take their friends.
. then they left first
. laid each other off so they could get severance.
. gave each other promotions and sign on bonuses at the next place
Did I miss anything?
And will now basically try to recreate the environment they just had so they can live happy and retire rich. Gotta be "in". My understanding was they did the same thin when they left IBM 15yrs ago and started at Qualcomm. Slightly different group, same mentality.
Good for them, though. While I would like a butt load of money and be "in", I would also like to feel accomplished and feel like I earned my way and wasn't just handed a job at ... nextsoft ... just because I was one of the "in".
Payments & Receivables...LOOOL, good one.
For whomever was asking, P&R = Place & Route automation.
Payments & Receivables, I think
What's P&R meaning gere?
I kid you not. They did an apples-to-apples comparison. The P&R block performing the exact same function posted their timing numbers, and they beat the custom block's. I don't let San Diego off the hook, though, because when the RTP site first launched, they were having to play the cards they were dealt. I would argue they were set up to fail. However, RTP just sprayed around their own air freshener, to try and cover up the scent. This was during Sanjay--who I actually think did a good job, except for one fatal flaw: he simply DIDN'T know what was going on in the trenches. The few times he found out, he was actually starting to make some good decisions. And he ended up repeating that mistake in his next job. He needs to step off the pedestal and do some undercover boss.
P&R outperformed custom!
Hahahhahaha
RTP svcks so hard.
Bunch of delusional droids over there.
I too am baffled how they survived that long.
