Lol. Millennials have very little tolerance for the phoney corporate-speak and general superficiality that are pillars of the Enbridge culture. It’s only tolerable because it’s fun to mock.

WOW! The last response got off topic quickly. As an “oldie”, I do agree the company hasn’t figured out how to leverage their talent properly. But I have to add, that this is nothing new. The diffence between successful corporations and corporations destined for obscurity is the ability to focus and then lead all that talent to a much greater goal. When thousands of talented craftsmen, technical experts, innovative engineers and efficient support roles staff personnel are ignored, left in dead end positions, given menial unchallenging tasks, and then treated as adversaries by management; all while bean counters, agile masters, and paper shuffling butt kissers are offered promotions and protection from work force reductions...Well then, the company gets what it gives!

Now, back to the topic of grading AM:

Based on overall company performance and the stellar ROI of Enbridge stock, if he were a head coach for ANY athletic team, he would have been given his walking papers 2 years ago...

And for all the old timers that don’t get any of the sarcasm in the aforementioned lines

It is us that are holding this company together. And just for context why we are holding this company together please read below.

It was not so long ago that we each had 5-7 bosses (aka each professor for each class) that would ask us to complete reasonably hard assignments, oh and by the way have them all due in one week just before holiday/vacation. Some of this assignments ranged from Calculus 3 with triple intergrals, a 30 page modern history report on a topic not even covered in lecture, stacked on top of a left ventricle disection and practical test while having the prof hover over your shoulder inspecting your every incision and pin back.........so what gives?!?!??

This is how we “ millennials” get sh-- done.

Monday: so stressed out, everything is due on Friday we don’t know where to begin so we start watching YouTube and googling how to get your dog licensed as a therapy dog so we can take them with us on our holiday to Hawaii.

Tuesday: get side tracked because the local pub has a flip cup tourney and our evening Chemistry Lab was canceled because the TA didn’t show up. (Ps our chem class won)

Wednesday: slight hangover, finally realize oh sh-- only two days left to complete the ridiculous assignments.....but still not worried and finish the paper work to get our thearapy dogs approved for our upcoming trip to Hawaii.

Wednesday 10:00pm: crush a Red Bull and cram for the dissection Lab on Thursday.

Wednesday 11:45pm: start googling the sh-- out of topics for the modern history report that is due.

Wednesday 11:59pm: Play Fortnite TIL 2am....goes to bed.

Thursday 10:00am: ace the dissection lab, and are super hungry now ( weird I know,... only Med students will get why a disection class makes you hungry, and half of us are vegetarian)

Thursday 2:00pm-10:00pm: finished with “1” page of the 30 page report.

Thursday 10:00pm - 11:59pm: crush a red bull and finish remaining 29 pages of report.

Thursday 11:59pm: Play Fortnite TIL 2am

Friday 7am-9am: Use Matlab / Mathematica to finish Calc 3 assignment just before class.

Friday 1:00pm: catch an Uber to the airport with our dog to go to Hawaii.

So I hope you are still reading and for those old timers that are struggling to understand what just happened.

In college/university we surrounded by happy fun people that encourage us to think different, make mistakes, use our imagination and openly discuss what is on our minds without repercussions.

When those magical things are allowed to happen we can seemingly make the impossible happen overnight.

Now a reflection on what happens at Enbridge.

We have this great idea we are going to play musical chairs for 3 years no one is going to get sh-- done and finally after all of that here is your box. (2x2 cube of death) Oh this is a nice box you’ll like it, it has these special lights to help you not get depressed, they say 4 hours in this light is equivalent to one day in Hawaii. ( and for a moment you smile because you remember you and your dog in Hawaii, but then instantly you snap back to because some one is slamming documents into the paper shredder and your boss is starting to sound like the teacher from Charlie Brown)

Your day typically starts out identically to the movie Office Space and you don’t do sh--. You have unpaid invoices, it will only take 2 minutes to resolve and send off to the folks in accounting but tomorrow’s another day so you’ll save it to make sure you have something to do.

A simple email comes in with a quick question, you read it...know the answer but don’t respond because you don’t want to write yourself out of a job by telling the next person how to do it.

Afternoon filled with meetings set up by someone who just likes to hear themselves talk. No one takes notes, no one is assigned anything to do but everyone just wasted 2hrs. (It’s funny how when we were in college/uni when we went to meetings we took notes and got assigned things, At Enbridge University they don’t required you to take notes or do assignments how sweet is that!!)

Finally it is Friday you forgot the one thing you had to do this week was send the invoices to accounting, we will still wait til 3:30pm to do it though because when we are done we can leave for the week.

Corporate logic is so tricky because all I’m seeing is lazy people standing around getting promoted and all of people that were kicking a-- like we did back in college/uni are leaving or getting fired.

So long story long: empower the younger generation let them show you their abilities and we will get the nearly impossible tasks completed overnight. We didn’t practice all through college/uni for sh--s and giggles we acted that way because in the real world things move fast, as Ricky Bobby said if your not first your last.

I hate to say, but I'm sure he will get more that a 15% increase. His 2017 total compensation was

$1,246,750 (base) + $7,652,452 (bonus) = $8,899,202.

According to Enbridge's rating scale, he would not be rated a High Performer or Exceptional. Unfortunately in the comments section the Enbridge board would see a list of excuses for poor performance e.g. not my fault, government interventions etc. Needless to say he'll receive a 10-15% merit increase.
