Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

President Xi also stated that he is open to approving the previously unapproved Qualcomm-NXP deal should it again be presented to him.

Too little, too late...

Absolutely spot on *mon. 'A' played a heavy role to secure this outcome for sure. When they come after Q and other companies for pittance of $, these tariffs would have been like a Goliath, and a dent to their profit. Trump's non-profit probably grew big time. Q did that to get B out of pic, so one can say this is fair game. Just that president gets richer by the day.

Of course they will move on.... After buy backs to maintain the stock price, both companies are not in a position for any deal. Even without buyback they wouldn't be..think !

Interesting to see a quick PR from Qualcomm. Rubbish.

They should focus on opex and reduce head count and match to that of Nvdia if they want to stay competitive and alive after 2019!

As expected Qualcomm released a statement mentioning they have moved on.

They know the deal is bust and unlikely to take place, so might as well throw it out there as a concession.

Logically speaking, there is no way Q will go for N as long as Icahn is there, so N wont go for a discount. But given Q's battles and the illogical developments, I wonder if SM woke up with a morning e------n just thinking about getting N back.

Too bad they spent all that money on the stock buyback to keep the price from hitting $40...

Looks like something is going to happen between now and Jan 1st and seems like China is going to make it happen or they are hoping Muller comes up with news about Trump that he will be too busy on his own legal issues and won't be able to put all effort on the tariffs. China is brewing up something ...

Did US just lose out to China by halting tariffs until Jan 1st? US/Trump just lost the leverage against China. To me it looks like China won this round as it has been for many years. We had the upper hand with China tariffs of $110 B for US vs US tariffs of $250 B for China. And I thought or at least Trump says he's a great deal maker. Doesn't look all that good in my opinion!
