Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

So much this!

I hope @WnuWxRN-esd doesn't mind me reposting this, but this is exactly how I feel.

I don’t know how others feel but walking into Kennedy office each morning is getting harder and harder. Stressful!! We have no idea who has been let go or even the number of people. I get the feeling they don’t want the public to know. Might look bad on them. Lol. Amazing haven’t heard any HR bs about wearing our little “how are you feeling” badges. It’s not like I ever believed they gave a s@&t anyways. They should have just come out and did the layoffs right across the board in one shot. I’m guessing they didn’t because it’s their sneaky way of keeping it on the down low from the outside world. Or maybe it was too much work all at once for them. There are people busting their butts there to make deadlines and working excessive hours. The working class. Too bad they couldn’t have given us the same courtesy by doing this in a timely manner. Instead they have caused high levels of stress and in the end there will be people who will pay with their health. It’s very sad

Plausible: “Does anyone else think that this drawn out process is actually in an effort to "scare people" into looking for other jobs? After all, if someone leaves on their own there is no severance paid., it would not be surprising at all to me if this was all just a strategy.” Likely effective as well judging by all the resumes on the printer.

This.

“your focus on delivering our products to our customers is greatly appreciated". In other words, "get back to work, slaves, until it's your turn for the chopping block!"

Also working out of the Kennedy office. The way they announced it was pretty bad, too! First they tell us that many of our most competent colleagues are being laid off and then they finish the announcement with this: "your focus on delivering our products to our customers is greatly appreciated". In other words, "get back to work, slaves, until it's your turn for the chopping block!"

It looks like a clean-up. Not nice, but the top managers don't care, they just have to make sure the shareholders will be and than they will keep their job.

Could be, but it may also be that because change is going on across so many business lines the dates are too hard for them to sync up, resulting in this super-long layoff season. Either way, TR will lose some very talented people who hate the uncertainty or have been prompted to look for better, more stable opportunities elsewhere.

I imagine HR is under a lot of stress and pressure too, and I don't think they're in control of any of the timelines, which are being dictated by senior execs in Eagan and consultants elsewhere. In an ideal world the layoffs would happen all at once so everyone can breathe easy, but unfortunately this is the reality we live in. If there's anyone to blame, Id look to the very top - these are the guys making the agenda and setting the timelines. Every manager below, whether good or bad, is just dancing to the beat of the drum.

I'm at Kennedy too. I wish it was over!!!! I feel like life has been put on hold - hard to make financial decisions especially at this time of year. I agree, it would have been better to do it all at once. So heartless of TR upper management. It's like slowly pulling off the band aid. The worst part is being kept in the dark and finding out information through the grapevine. It's a very unproductive way to run a business.
