Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Is Walmart getting rid of assistant managers?

Here are my questions about this.

  • Is Walmart getting rid of assistant managers?

  • If yes, when?

  • Is this going to be a program, with some duties transferred?

  • How will we operate if this happens?

  • Do you think this will benefit the company?

What are your thoughts?

The co manager shuffle, the same does need to happen to the assistants. Please don't take it in a bad way. But moving them to other stores is not a bad thing, for the most they have become to comfortable in the four walls of their assigned store's, moving them to other would show them their true weakness, so they can improve their skills. But all means make their store change reasonable for driving to assure their family life balance.

Calibrations are taking place as they do yearly which is fact. IMHO it doesn’t make sense to get rid of ASMs entirely due to the fact it’s a stepping stone to COs. Just like COs are a stepping stone to SM. Cut back on the number of ASMs based on store volume, yes we all can see that because it was done with the COs this year.

The following are just my opinions (I think it'd be a good idea if people would start prefacing their comments this way, but that probably won't happen) :

Nobody hourly working there I've asked about this seems to know for sure, and I get the feeling even assistants themselves (I know a few of them too) are being kept in the dark about a lot of things. ... But WM could certainly do easily without them. CAP Team leads and such are already doing assistant work any way, at a fraction of the cost. Shift managers can probably go away too, they never really did do much of anything. The fact is, a bunch of very lazy people have been living high on the hog off WM's bank roll for far too long, and I think their day of reckoning is here.

Will this adversely affect the company's profits? Yes and no. Ultimately, I think it will help. WM desperately needs to shed a LOT of pork if they're going to survive.

Again----merely my thoughts ~
