Thread regarding GE Digital layoffs

Layoffs at GE Digital before the end of the year?

Will we learning about more layoffs before the end of 2018 or can we assume we are safe at least until January?

If I remember correctly, December was never a big layoff month for GE in general, so I'm hoping that spilled over to us.

Can anybody confirm that we are good for now?

Predix has become a zombie with GE essentially giving up on it. Many GE business applications are moving out of Predix and into AWS/Azure. GE is also searching for "partners" for Digital, meaning someone else will takeover and GE will just be junior partner. I think San Ramon will be owned by somebody else in next 6-12 months.

Coretech jobs are fine, as far I know. But with the cyber security/Coretech pairing seemingly no longer happening, then they may or may not be at risk. As for GED proper, like out in San Ramon, I have no knowledge at all.

There is one lay-off that would instantly boost morale - Ruh.

I hear Detroit is going to become an affinity group site. No more work. Just playtime and affinity group meetings.

Any lay-off about core tech? Especially Buckhead, Georgia?

I was laid off March 2018 - and from what I hear of my old team none of the work has stopped - I dont think Digital can really afford to lay off anyone else at this point - bare bones as it is - especially in DT functions.

I miss it and also I kind of don't. I found a equivalent role 8 weeks after my last day. I'm in a completely different culture - so different from Digital and GE

Certainly possible but may be unnecessary given huge turnover. Morale is the pits here and people are leaving left and right. No leadership being shown at all in Digital and things just keep getting worse. If attrition is doing the job then no need for layoffs.
