CWA techs working in IBEW area

Starting today 11/28 techs from CWA area are being moved into the Romney, Augusta, CharlesTown, and other IBEW areas to alleviate the load. IBEW has agreed to take the help because the techs in those areas are overwhelmed with jobs and are unable to clear the load. First wave will start this week followed by large blitz thru Christmas.

Expect major Union reallignment beginning of new year as IBEW techs have no layoff protections.

Y'all need to wake up. Your all typewriter repairmen let that sink in think about it all of you are Union and your at war with each other as the industry dies around you and the companies take advantage of you. I've Been CWA and Local 134 IBEW Chicago...I have a preference but you all do the same job.Yes wages should be equal .that depends on the strength of your local and its men. you had all take assessment of the death of this industry and prepare yourselves for what lies next I been in telco 40 years and the only thing constant in this industry?.....Is change don't let the trees block your vision of the forest

Another service emergency in WV, another clear sign of how this company is being run into the ground. Continue to work a skeleton crew to death to try and "get over the hump" without hiring any needed help. Well, its december, wonder thats workin out for them......kiss 4Q earnings goodbye. Runaway train headed down the wrong track.

With the new IBEW contract, how wide is the gap still between the two, and are benefits equal as well. And what about job responsibilites, are they equal between the 2 as well? If all is equal, sounds just like a good ol fashion ftr screwin.

IBEW Techs under the two W.V. contracts have a lower wage rate than nearby CWA Techs. As a result, FTR would be foolish to reduce the # of IBEW Techs. In fact, I believe that FTR has recently hired replacement IBEW Techs under these contracts.

As a fellow IBEW member in one of the area's mentioned.....let me make it perfectly clear that NONE OF US WANT CWA HERE REGARDLESS OF OUR LOAD!! The Union has not agreed to let them in, the company is forcing it down our throat and we have no recourse but to grieve it. For those who say we bend to the company....maybe you should try putting yourself in our shoes. You guys are 1,000+ strong in the state, we have 58 total I believe....36 in one local and 22 in the other. You do the math and you can figure out how big of a leg we have to stand on. We hold no ill will towards any CWA member....we just want to be paid like them....nothing more...nothing less. Our gripe has always and will always be with the company who treat us like second rate technicians!!!!

IBEW is almost useless as union. It always bends to the company

Too late, CWA techs from Charleston and Huntington have been forced and are right now working in IBEW area in Romney. Were told they would be disciplined as insubordinate if they did not go.

IBEW bending over easier than a 2$ h--ker!

IBEW, dont be stupid! This is nothing more than a company tactic to invade the area. Without a ratified contract, dont let anybody in!!

CWA techs won't be going anywhere and the company can't make them.

Relaying this post I saw from a president of a CWA local:

All Frontier Cable Splicing Technicians,

Today you have been solicited to volunteer to go out of town to Romney, Charlestown, and/or Sutton. Romney and Charlestown are IBEW areas. CWA and IBEW do not have an agreement to cross into the IBEW bargaining unit. Yesterday HR told two of our Eboard that IBEW was still in contract negotiations and it is unclear if they are or are not in negotiations. IBEW is not receptive to receiving help at this time. I also want to remind you that IBEW refused to come into CWA territory during the strike. If anyone has any question please contact me [REDACTED]. Should anyone be forced please contact me or another officer in Local [REDACTED].
