I cannot fathom, how or why should every leadership position should go to these CAS people. Yes, finance is important, but GE is not a financial services company(it once was ofcourse)
We need people with operational understanding, people with customer connect. Why does GE place all bets on these CAS people when clearly they havent even delivered as can be seen.
In the end the elite networks of CAS and the leadership program Alums watch out for their own vs always doing what is best for the company. It is one of the core reasons we are in the mess we are in.
GE IS a financial company. Since many years now. When was the last time we had an industrial strategy? All the recent moves are 100% driven by financial considerations (get money to repay debts..."deleverage"...). The problem is that our financial folks are not the smartest chaps around...
