Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The downfall of holiday sales in the last couple of years

The last decent Thanksgiving at the store I worked at was 2014. Lots of crowds. Had to use a ticket system for electronics because there were so many people. There were lots of crowds elsewhere in the store like tools, apparel, housewares and appliances. Sears literally needed all hands on deck (at least at my store) because it really was busy. The parking lot was very full. Every hardlines department had cashiers to ring because we were too busy selling to bother with the register. I recall doing almost $8k my first hour and ending the night at around $15k. Then it dwindled into nothing, year after year. It dropped off noticeably with the loss of electronics.

Last year, I recall the entire store ending the night at a pathetic $11k. The sad thing is that as of last year, Sears still required "all hands on deck" even though we were all standing around twiddling our thumbs after about the first hour. There was no reason to have everybody there because there were no customers to serve. I personally used the whole night the last few Thanksgivings to clean and straighten since it was so mind-numbingly boring and depressing.

A good and a sincere post by @Werzfs4-aer . All of us working at the stores could see the pattern of the downfall of the holiday season sales. I see some people on this board hoping that the holiday season is going to save us, or at least buy us some time, but judging by this, the chances of that happening are next to a miracle.
