Lol... an advisor role at a bank makes perfect sense. A bank has employees who advise customers about financial and banking matters. At Enbridge, there are plenty (probably hundreds) of “advisors” that don’t do any advising as part of their role. The titles are definitely stupid... I work with a lot of external partners and they get confused by the oddities... eg, that the Senior Analyst on our team is more junior than the Advisors.

The level of ignorance on this website is mind-blowing. Instead of just talking sh-- —how about doing a google search? For example, Job level definitions and typical duties like ‘advisor’ are pretty common across companies. Next time you go into a bank, look at everyone’s job titles. They tell you about their level of responsibility and decision making.

Effective Decisions are exemplified by Infrastructure Planning. For example the merit increases, RSU and spot bonuses given to members of our team last year served to recognize and motivate the most capable knowledge and talent in the company. When you empower your top assets with the recognition they deserve the results pay dividends. Look no further than Line 3 which was designed, planned and managed by our group and is the only major pipeline to be built in Canada in a country that sorely needs it. You can mock all you want, but that just shows you are envious. When really you should be appreciative, we put our heads down and contribute with our brains and hard work to advance Enbridge and the energy industry as a whole. So do we deserve the special financial recognitions that get passed our way for our invaluable contributions? The answer is yes. It's an effective decision to put your resources where your rate of return will be optimized.

Who needs an advisor ?

AM does.

First piece advice to him

Keep front line employees pleased.

They will always try to continue to please you in return.

Today our dept has 14 in it and I know for sure everyone is disgruntled and feels

no appreciation or valued in any way.

Do what have and do not look for cost savings or efficiency.

Who cares if it is extra 1/4 -1/2 million$$.

Not like we are respected or rewarded.

Thanks for nothing AM. Exactly what you get back.

LOL get some managers that can make effective decisions and you won't need effective decision advisors! They will hire from outside. Who wants to be a RAPID pusher??

In the same job postings, 35% contained the word "advisor" . Sounds like Enbridge now is just hiring people who do nothing but to give counsel rather than hiring people who do real grunt work.

The Advisor title was fabricated to devalue the company's employees on the job market. We're not likely to be worth as much when no one else knows what our job title really means.

It's the company's way of saying "We need to keep you, at least for now. But instead of convincing you to stay by paying you what you deserve, we're going to convince you not to leave by making it look to everyone else like you deserve to be paid less."

Haha re: Advisor question. That probably warrants a thread of its own. The job titles are complete nonesense in most cases. There are many teams l made up of a supervisor and advisors, which sounds absolutely r----ded. Some consistency in job titles was obviously needed, but it’s unclear why they picked the titles they did. I don’t think corporate even bothered to produce any spin on the logic behind the naming convention. Perhaps their end game is to make our jobs sound stupid and more junior than they actually are so it’s harder to find employment elsewhere. Naw, that’s way to clever. More likely.:: Workday came with a prepopulated list of job titles and corporate couldn’t figure out how to change it.

If you want to point towards an effective decision, it would be the decision to keep Infrastructure Planning at full force. When Enbridge reports record throughout for yet another quarter, you know it was our skills and system knowledge that made the oil flow. Throughout is money and Infrastructure Planning is the group that understands how to make it happen. To keep us empowered and direct company resources to supporting the high impact talent - that my friends, is an effective decision.

So what does an advisor really do ? We have so many of these job titles with this term across the company that I believe this is an HR concoction. Job titles ought to be more meaningful like analyst, planner, developer, manager, etc.

I think this role runs around and pumps RAPID. Snoozer of a role if your trying to get people to buy in on an idea 3 years old.

I can save Enbridge a lot of money. The decision to lay off thousands of people probably wasn't all that effective.

Omg, I LOLed for real. Wonder how many hours of debate and levels of management approval were required before they posted the "advisor of decision effectiveness role".
