Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

We are still doing NASCAR??!!

Explain this to me again. Top talent is quitting or being laid off, morale is in the c-apper, entire product lines are slipping or being canceled and yet the company is putting money into a nascar car??? Who exactly is at a nascar race that juniper would appeal to?? Are we going for the “engineering simplicity” of trump voters?? I can’t think of a better example of the extreme dysfunction in the company. Get out NOW.

Replace NASCAR with and put the sticker on F1 which has a more global presence.

Team Williams who's traditionally in last place every year is always looking for Sponsors so they'd be cheaper.

So good place to nest....

Nascar is not an embarrassment for Juniper.

What really is an embarrassment for Juniper is it's inability to provide a healthy work environment for it's employees. One in which employees don't have to fear weekly stealth layoffs, face retribution for speaking up against the status quo that has run the company down into the ground, and last but not least allows groups of employees to form cliques and fiefdoms to bully, harass and disrespect hard working honest individuals who are a threat to them for doing what is right.

Just saw this. NASCAR is an embarrassment for Juniper. We aren’t rednecks. We aren’t racist. We aren’t misogynist. Yet we affiliate with this organization?

Here is the truth about NASCAR. The organization as a whole is on its deathbed and Juniper Networks is stupid if they sponsor the sport. Ratings are down, Attendance is down, and tracks are ripping out seats so the crowd doesn't look that sparse. This is in response to changes that caused massive trouble including the fact that all cars look and sound alike. In short, the stock has been taken out of NASCAR which is short for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. It used to be that the cars were different enough that the auto makers were able to race on Sunday and sell on Monday. Thanks to the boom that started with the February 1979 Daytona 500, any old company would be able to sponsor a team and get eyeballs. Right now, sponsoring a team equals a money drain, and the likely hood of Juniper getting eyeballs is slim to none. In other words, your company would be better off giving the current CEO the golden parachute 10 time over.

Here's some background... Performance and speed are characteristics idolized by various racing industries and networking product vendors. To capitalize on this aspect, marketing with this in mind, many networking companies have partnered with racing teams to show low latency performance of their switches and networking products actually help the racing teams analyze telemetric data faster and make better race time decisions - which is critical to race team managers to win races.

In reality, Juniper does not make the fastest switches in the industry. The lowest latency switches are not even ethernet anymore... and compute infrastructures that actually need to shave off every nanosecond use... InfiniBand. let's not get carried away with this... but look at the networking equipment manufacturers (NEMs) who sponsor motorsports teams.... Barracuda Networks sponsors a Formula One car. Juniper sponsors Joe Gibbs Racing... (a.k.a give them free networking gear in the form of a few EX/QFX switches), and pay some money to put logos on a racecar for half the season.

Cisco sponsors a powerboat racing. You have all heard about the variety of sailboats sponsored by IT companies in America's Cup - Oracle leading the way. Well, I digress, the bottom line is there are many companies who like to advertise through racing... because it is a great opportunity to improve brand recognition.

Sadly, the marketing / PR teams at Juniper have been in conflict with sponsoring this team. They do not follow up with the marketing activities that could truly benefit Juniper. Just like everything else, the marketing efforts have been less than optimal, mediocre and pathetic.

These activities do lead to poor marketing ROI. This demonstrates Juniper marketing's inability to reach target customers and decision makers, and generally communicate the value proposition of Juniper's products.

All this adds up to poor sales, which eventually leads to MORE LAYOFFS. Juniper's marketing failure is the fundamental reason why juniper's sales teams struggle quarter after quarter. We lose deals to Arista, Cisco, Huawei, Aruba/HP, Meraki/Cisco, Extreme. PAN who are collectively much more prudent in their marketing investments and careful in targeting their customers with relevant collateral that actually helps sales.

The Board of Directors and Rami Rahim should make some changes - First, Mike Marcellin, the CMO has not been able to deliver. Many will agree that MM has been a disaster for Juniper's marketing team. His ability to execute as CMO has been less than acceptable for a long time. It's time to make a change. Many VPs and Directors in Marketing have been poor performers for years. They need to clean house in Marketing.

PLM which usually works with Marketing (and engineering) has not been able to deliver. They have not been able to identify market opportunities as well as they should. Gambling on the wrong chips, products, markets has resulted in a dead-end company. Dead-end for customers and employees. Can this be turned around? Yes, anything is possible, and the board needs to step in, force RR to step up to the plate and make some changes.

Well Juniper is full of these unscrupulous and corrupt POSs. Just come visit our AA run political circus in Sunnvale to get a taste of real India. Your worth is measured by the closeness to his gang. They have managed to boot out 95% of competent people here and in other locations.

There's a Juniper employee in Herndon in a mid-high level role who is friends with the guys behind the Nascar team sponsored. It's not a good marketing investment and they buy a few small EX switches so Juniper can put their Nascar logo on a slide deck of customers. Just another example of unethical behavior where Juniper employees and management do what's best for themselves instead of the company and shareholders.
