What happens to an otherwise healthy division like home services during liquidation? Does it still function? Is it put in a coma until it is sold?

Maybe someone will buy them, like Sears bought A&E when Wards closed.
And the individual business units can be sold off piecemeal to satisfy creditor claims so conceivably you could be working for someone else 😧
Don’t be naive. Home Services is merely a business unit of Sears Holdings - just like Retail, the Auto Centers, etc. Business unit profitability (although I highly doubt Home Services is as profitable as leadership leads you to believe) does not exclude it from the bankruptcy ruling affecting the organization as a whole. Bankruptcy affects the corporation in it’s entirety including all business units, and the court doesn’t make exceptions for individual business units to operate while the corporation liquidates. That would be like saying one profitable store should be left to operate when the rest are closed and liquidated. So to answer your question: As Sears Holdings goes, so goes it’s business units including Home Services. When the court moves to liquidation all operations stop... ALL operations stop.

Supposed Home Services Techs bragging about purposely screwing customers in order to avoid doing their job(s) and earning commissions.
Problem is those Kenmore parts were supplied through Sears PartsDirect. You may still be able to order some of them directly from the manufacturer, but good luck Sherlock. If Kenmore really disappears it might be a good time to invest in some LG stock or something, because that's a lot of appliances that are going to need replacing.
Healthy? Yea right those guys can't fix nothing. Better to call a local appliance repair service if possible. Had them out to fix my fridge. Took 8 service calls then they finally replaced it cause the 4 different techs didn't know what they were doing. This went on 3 months with no refrigerator. A&E factory?? (STAY AWAY) for sure. BBB and all the nationwide reviews back this up. They are marginally criminal with lawsuits after lawsuit. Hopefully this answers your questions as to what's going to happen when the liquidation is presented this week or next if delayed again. Look elsewhere for employment and fast!!
