Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Has everyone's store taken the option out at checkout to get cashback?

I made purchase yesterday and was going to get $20 dollars back and it's no longer an option.. Cashier said it was due to some kind of scam going on

Very interesting

Go to the bank like a normal person. Stop using a store to get cash back

They simply don't have the cash to act as your bank for a few days

A-hole the point was not 'why did they take it away', the point was 'why would that person claim that was why they would take it away', since it didn't seem like much of an opportunity for a scam to be possible.

Perhaps it’s because SYWR is in the process of winding down and the last step was dealing with the POS settings.

We already know that the SYWR department has been laid off so it’s not too far of a stretch for this particular theory!!

@ztn because it isn't the right answer. You have to be living under a rock to not understand why Sears is low on cash

WTF are people downvoting @uev for providing an explanation of how there could be any kind of 'scam' involving cashback (if that wasn't just nonsense made up by that store manager)?

Many stores likely not doing enough transactions to justify offering cash back. Also, limiting register options could be in preparation for chapter 7 liquidation.

In order to accommodate a cash back function, the store needs to have a decent daily cashflow.

Sears does not have a decent daily cashflow.

The only scam going on at Sears is being perpetrated by Edward Scott "Fast Eddie" Lampert. He sells-off Sears' assets to his own private company on the cheap. Then he sits on the assets until he believes they are going for the highest price at the lowest risk and resells the assets for a large margin. He's like a used car dealer or a surplus dealer, except even slimier. Surplus and used car dealers have nothing on the Chosenite criminals in this world.

Lampert will be caught one day but when that happens he will hop on a plane to Chosenite Land and get off scott-free of any and all charges. He will then run a huge Shiksa prostitution and p--n operation with kidnapped/enslaved girls from Eastern EU...like they all do.

If this is a thing at all, it would be a scam perpetrated by cashiers, not customers. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/cash-back-scam/

The cash back option is completely off the pos machine so it isn't a matter of not having $20 dollars

The keypad use to ask if you want cash back and now that option doesn't even come up

"Cashier said it was due to some kind of scam going on"

“Maybe it’s because they didn’t have $20.00 to give back”

This is the correct answer
