Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Who Says the job market is good?

Wages have not increased in years. Of course if you're talking about low-level jobs at places like retail and fast food, yeah, they are hiring and maybe you get a buck raise for leaving Burger King for Taco Bell. Try getting a Vice President job level or higher, these jobs are few and far between. Get a clue. And no, you don't jump ship during turbulent times like these as you can be laid off anywhere for any reason and if you are new your unemployment/severance will be less. Better to be at a company for longer and if you get laid off at least your severance and unemployment are better. And.... WHY are there still so may DST people at their jobs if the job market is so strong? Well? I thought so.... the job market is not strong and you are being lied to by the media like everything else.

Check back in a month and when the stawk market is in full collapse you will then see that strong job numbers are ALWAYS the last thing that is reported before it all goes bust.

Hope you're ready for what's coming... it ain't pretty.

I tend to agree with @WWn8wEJ-1pbu and the points that he made in this post.

I doubt any of you are making more than 250k. Anything under 250k is not a good salary. Keep kidding yourselves that life is so good. We’re talking VP level jobs and up, not pencil pusher 50k a year grunt jobs.

Why when someone posts that they have done well after being laid off or leaving they get a ‘thumbs down’ ? It seems that this site is now just filled with trolls who have some weird axe to grind but they’re taking it out on their peers who are still there. If you are still there, hang in. You have value in this new world. If you have been or will be let go, please believe me, you will be fine.

Everyone I know who's been laid off has gotten a new job within 2 months, easy. Most have had multiple offers for more money. So yeah, severance is very nice in these situations. It's the people who stay at companies long term with miserly < 3% annual increases (or none!) that are grossly underpaid in the market today. And that was status of the people laid off; grossly under paid.

I love my new job! And the extra year of pay in the bank is the icing on the cake.

Oh please, found a job 2.2 seconds after my layoff. Better money too!

And still getting job offers as we speak. Perhaps those that remain really aren't as high and mighty or as valuable as they thought? Oh and by the way. NOT at Taco bell or Burger king!

i agree. what we're seeing is huge fake job numbers to make the stock market go up - how convenient after yesterday's negative close. and anyone who knows anything about bear market rallies, knows the bottom is going to drop out hard with all this volatility. this is not good. volatility like this is dangerous, the market is way overvalued, everyone paying attention knows this. and as for jobs, yeah, why hasn't most of DST found another job yet if the economy is so good? i mean they know their days are few, with the constant rumors of layoffs, what are they all waiting for? its because companies are NOT hiring. and now with all this volatility in the markets, you get hiring freezes.

but if you want to work in fast food, you can probably get hired asap.
