Aviation to send work to Schenectady NY Campus

2019 is shaping up to be a heavy year for 273 and Schenectady. Layoffs will be over and the facility should be running like a well oiled machine again.

@WJzu6aV-3zxw So why aren't Aviation people doing the work? Something just doesn't sound right or feel good.

Bumped from below: "Sounds like c-ap. They wouldn't have the right ISO certs, or FAA quals to do aviation stuff."

I work at Aviation, this is true.

Another important question to ask is when is Schnecdaty getting the proper FAA and ISO certs to make these parts? You can’t just go making parts that go into an airplane without this.

I feel in 273 we don't want these as it is more work and we gave up some. So I go back on Cushman now.

Apparently nobody else is going to ask the questions. Where are these aviation parts coming from that has been building them? Why aren't they building them in the first place? Are any of our job description/pay based off of us strictly manufacturing generator turbine parts, or is it for any part to include jet engine parts? I'm not that quick to get excited about this until I know all the facts.

Yes this is true. As far as people being screwed over by not being in a skilled trade that’s your own doing choosing not to get educated. An aircraft engine is no different then a gas turbine just allot smaller.

Take the work away from the ones who have been doing it for years and send it to a bunch of people who have never done it and aren't even set up for it. What could possibly go wrong?!?!?!

If this is true, it still won't helped anyone who's not in a skilled trade, now that the hall s---ered everyone to sell their soul for a dollar.

They are essentially shorter round shafts with fan blades. Shouldn't be too hard for us to get tooled up for them. If it happens, it'll probably do little more than give an excuse for keeping the doors open while still letting most of us go.
