Why should there be a penalty? The shareholders are the boss. They pick the board. The board picks the execs. The execs pick the managers. And the managers hire and fire, based on what execs believe serves the shareholder interest. Your interests are no more worthy than Shalindra's or Rathika's who has her own kids to worry about.
As a woman, I'd be really interested to see what State Street's female to male pay ratio is personally. Is it better than the US average of 79%? Somehow I very much doubt it.
It is not about one country vs another. If the jobs in India were moving to Russia, the folks in India would be upset too.
