Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

The company gets what it gives

As an “oldie”, I do agree the company hasn’t figured out how to leverage their talent properly. But I have to add, that this is nothing new. The diffence between successful corporations and corporations destined for obscurity is the ability to focus and then lead all that talent to a much greater goal. When thousands of talented craftsmen, technical experts, innovative engineers and efficient support roles staff personnel are ignored, left in dead end positions, given menial unchallenging tasks, and then treated as adversaries by management; all while bean counters, agile masters, and paper shuffling butt kissers are offered promotions and protection from work force reductions...Well then, the company gets what it gives!

This is a part of a post that bumped from @WsvSFGs-gioh . This couldn’t be any truer

Only the best talent gets poached. The leftovers are either so long employed they are jaded, incapable of finding a new job because they are incompetent, or old enough not to care. Well, and there are the vampire ELT’s.

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what ‘talent’ you have on-board. If your product is garbage, obsolete or just not deemed to be valuable - you’ll eventually go the way of the dodo bird.

Can you give some examples of ‘successful companies’. I’m curious.

I think of myself to be a talented professional, having been around the industry for 20+ years, both Operations and Major Projects. Before leaving on my own I was offered several pipeline integrity roles but couldnt stomach the Houston and Nashville Leadership. Nothing but politicians, no backbone, hardly any knowledge of today's state of the art integrity assessment tools, no interest in investing in their workforce. I've learned early in my career that a Company's biggest asset comes in at 8 am and leaves at 5 pm, but there's no guarantee they'll come back to work the following day. With that said and given what's been happening over the past few years it's somewhat difficult to believe that Enbridge cares about its workforce so as long as you can fog a mirror and don't cost the Company more than they would like to pay you a job is almost guaranteed
