-1ox1 Yeah, dimwit, and Qualcomm invented (and holds valid patents for) 100% of what you listed, right? No. But their licensing scheme implies they did. It seems you know little about patents, licensing and business.

Also, these are two giant (for profit) companies, so no tears will be shed either way. But did Apple lay off hundreds of people right before Christmas, year after year? If I had to pick a bad guy in the fight, I’m rooting for Qualcomm to go down in flames.

The first iphone came to market way after things like GPS, cell phone audio/video, accelerometers, but HEY, they should only have to pay component fees but still use all the technology and charge users 20% off the top for all in-app purchases for things like GPS games. Pay less than a dollar per phone and get hundreds of dollars. They're the real victims.

Apple can't survive without massive buybacks and every tax trickery loophole possible. They signed the IP agreements with Qualcomm, if they don't like the terms all of a sudden why is this not being framed as anything but a bad business deal on Apple's end.

No post because Apple is an IP thief. Everyone knows that, so why post?

No. No, they do not want to come back. Good lord. The denial is strong with this one.

Just read the documents from the courts or have mommy read them to you. They are fighting this fight because they're angry that Qualcomm is trying to get 2-5% of the entire retail price of the device in licensing revenue as part of their "package" licensing deal. The deal has always been "bend over and take the entire sausage" whether you want ALL the Qualcomm patents or not. Then they whack Apple for a percentage of the TOTAL retail price of the phone. This is absurd, of course, because the value of the phone includes many, many components not covered by Qualcomm's patents, and not invented by Qualcomm (i.e., this is not FRAND). Further, Qualcomm also demands that everyone in the chain also takes a license and pays a royalty. So they double dip. Apple pays for using the tech and for buying the tech. Nobody likes this, it's total nonsense, and has been going on for many years. Qualcomm is unique with this bully tactic. Nobody has been big enough to fight the battle until Apple. That's why Qualcomm keeps getting fined by various governments around the globe.

Apple will NEVER come back to Qualcomm for modems long term. They will make their own before that happens. But whoever's modem they use, even if it is their own, Qualcomm will still try to take a bite by demanding licensing fees. Apple is willing to pay FRAND on the patents they use, nothing more. That is until Apple designs around those patents, of course, because their long term goal is to not have to pay one single penny to Qualcomm.

Haha I bet all this hassle Apple is doing for 1Billion which nothin compares to hoards of cash they have. All this drama is because they want to come back but don’t want to pay top dollar for quality product. Why would a trillion dollar company spend money fighting for 1 billion ???

It’s very simple and obvious do the math

I don't think you understand business well. Allow me to summarize for you:

1) Apple WAS one of Qualcomm's biggest customers and WAS a substantial portion of their revenue.

2) Now Qualcomm and Apple are suing the beejeezus out of each other. Because suing your biggest customer is great for business. SM for best CEO! By the way, it's become pretty dang ugly even for a lawsuit.

3) It doesn't matter who wins. Even if Qualcomm "wins", they may get some settlement money or licensing revenue from Apple in the short term, but Apple WILL NEVER return/stick with Qualcomm long term. Mainly because Qualcomm has done some fairly unforgivable things to Apple in this battle. Do you know nothing about Apple? Business? Humans in general? Of course anything Apple pays to Qualcomm will be a minuscule fraction of the Apple cash reserves (i.e., zero damage) and Apple's sales will continue.

4) If Apple "wins", it will result in a serious revaluation of the legality of Qualcomm's licensing model, or at the very least, it will affect the way they have done business for years. Other customers will smell blood and they will follow Apple's lead. Oh, and Apple's sales will continue.

5) The end.

I hope that helps those who are too slow or stupid to get another job and still drink that weak Qualcomm Kool Aid. Have a great weekend!
