Thread regarding Frontier Communications Corp. layoffs

Is this true?

The buyouts are generally minuscule and offers employees 48 months of payments and a lump sum of 10k. You would think this would be a no brained for management.

Is this true? Have previous buyouts really been this low? How did they get anybody to accept it, then? Were people that desperate to leave?

Spot on about isp buyouts. They’re in your union bargaining. California states 2 weeks pay for every year plus something else. Can’t remember what. But that’d be enough for me. Just let me sell my three houses in LA and San Bernardino counties and grab my 401k and I’ll head to Texas. Later Frontier. Later sh--ty California and your taxes to help the homeless get cell phones.

All ISP offers have been cancelled, BK nullifies any need for buyouts. Management will take care of management.

CenturyLink is mostly a Tier I networking company now, not a landline company. They will survive.

Think about it, they brought in Bane Group to consult FTR with planning their future BK. Now the Sears guy is on board. I think BK is coming Q2. What do you guys think, it has to be the smartest move in a world where Gigabit speeds are already here. Just no future in landline companies like Windstream, Frontier and Centurylink. Verizon, Att and now Spectrum will survive because of their investments in cellular.

Two new board members just joined FTR. Both have financial background but one of them was former board member for Sears. Hmmm, wonder if they’ll turn things around, or???

2 years is miniscule? Man are you in for a rude awakening when you get out into the 21st century job market.

Most non-management buyouts are outlined in each union contract as to the amount, whether its an ISP, SVSP, or etc. so it could differ. Also makes a difference if its an "enhanced" buyout which generally doubles the amount.
