People please these offers are only good for India. The rest of world they don’t even come close to the top tech companies. My offer for level 4 is what a new hire at Facebook , google, LinkedIn would get. Not Netflix , but they earn more in base salary per year anyway. Top co’s would fully vest in 4 years vs Broadcom takes 7 years. Not only do they get a bigger RSU upfront, they get refreshers for beyond 4 years. One way to to think about this is Broadcom pays about 37% less than top companies. How ? Let’s suppose your offer is 400, 4 year total. You will vest 25 per year

By the 4th year vesting you have 250 shares of the 400 or about 62.5%

So when people say Broadcom pays like the big tech companies. No, they pay at least 37% less.

This grant is for 4 years and in 2023 new grant will be given. So from 2024 also you get 4x25 stocks.

I’m the op.

I was already getting stock and bonus with ca so my offer represents about 18% improvement. Never said I was not greatful. Even with 18% I’m still at least half what my friends make at half dozen tech companies. Working older “legacy” products too. LinkedIn is older than the product I worked on. Google search is older, Adobe is older, etc. Actually my product was v1 as of this year. Not too many of those at CA ...

@WE5KNwa-2mzt - you prove the exact point i was making. If your total share count is 400, that will come to you as 4 grants over 4 years. Then each grant will vest 25%.

The hostility is intense.... really people chill it’s ok.

OP thanks four clarification. As long as you are thankful :)

Its just that in my experience SW engineers have always a bloated sense of entitlement and self importance.... Ca guys are no different. As for legacy comment, having CA on your resume (regardless of new products) is not a competitive differentiator, may be I am wrong.

IM the op and of course I’m thankful. I was already getting bonus and stock with CA for me amounts to about 18% more total comp. but still at least half what I know my friends earn (still I don’t want their life). I was simply dispelling a myth. Here is another myth about legacy products. We have developed new products as recently as this year. I know, I did so myself. The product previously worked on sure legacy invented in 2000’s. But take the top paying companies. Google search, legacy or never finished? LinkedIn? It’s almost two decades old, legacy? Facebook? Just about anything could be considered legacy.

Neither from India or Brcm HR. OP is right these may not be Google or FB numbers for CA folks but for Broadcom employees who have multiple years of similar annual grants, we are seeing our annual vesting exceed FB/ Goog, especially if you are principal / level 5 or higher.

I think reason for hostility is that ca folks are coming out as whiny babies, and ungrateful. It appears ca folks are cut off from reality, unfortunately you guys worked on legacy technology (for most part), were managed poorly by last management team. Now that for those of you, who have jobs with brcm, perhaps show a bit of gratitude for getting some goodies on top of the same base salary you got at CA. Yes, if you put all the analysis together and if OP is right and your new comp is "37%" less than fb or Goog, shouldn't you guys be focusing on upside you are getting from your CA days, rather than comparing to other companies. Be thankful for what you have, else you will chase your lifetime in comparisons....

Oh I am sorry I thought you knew that you work at CA technologies So now that you have a job offer you’re complaining that you’re not getting the bump for your inferior school sad that you have developed over many years while working for a legacy technology company. Stop whining know your worth if you can be heard at the other places you mentioned please go and get hard otherwise keep your head down there and work
